A former foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, George Papadopoulos, secretly pleaded guilty as part of Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. He pleaded guilty to making false statements during an interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
It would seem to be a very good bet that Papadopoulous already has flipped. (The plea deal’s sentence recommendation begins at “zero” months, which is a tell.) The initial White House reaction to the news about Paul Manafort was that everything happened years ago, and what the hell is Mueller doing? Now, we have a completed legal proceeding containing the words “Trump campaign,” “Russia,” and “disparaging information on Hillary Clinton.” -Charles Pierce |

This forum seems to be loaded with people who just simply know things...throw them out in a snide comment with never ever any substantiation or substance. Why would anyone want to do that ? |

I just do not understand why people would want to do that...perhaps at some point, you have no pride. I just do not like the idea of idiots like this feeling they might know something, when they are in fact, in the words of this poster...CLUELESS. I have been on this forum from the beginning when you validated your thoughts with some sharing of links or your reading. It is difficult to now read people who obviously do not read, OR...read and listen to YOUTUBE exclusively. I care about the country and these ignorant people actually are allowed to vote. That phoney voter commission (now itself under investigation should look into these people) "The work of President Trump's commission studying voter fraud and other voting problems has been stalled by the eight lawsuits filed against it, according to one commission member." 'Nothing Going On' With Trump Voter Fraud Commission Due To Multiple Lawsuits : NPR "President Donald Trump’s voter fraud commission is facing mounting criticism from Democratic members on the panel who have questioned the group’s purpose and claimed they don’t even know when the group will meet next. Several Democrats on the Election Integrity Commission said the work has stalled, and internal communication has slowed to a trickle since the panel held its first meeting in July. “The reality is, I don’t know anymore now than I knew three months ago,” said Alan King, a probate judge in Alabama and one of the commission’s Democratic members." What’s become of Trump’s voter fraud commission? Even some of its members aren’t sure | PBS NewsHour "A Maryland man arrested this week after authorities said they found child pornography on his cellphone worked for President Trump’s voter fraud commission, according to a senior administration official." Trump voter fraud commission researcher arrested on child pornography charges - The Washington Post That last link was just to be nasty.....what a tremendous waste of our money this is. |

President Trump has no fact-based defense. The soap-bubble distractions floated by Fox News and in-the-tank pundits—Uranium One! Dossier!—pop as soon as they meet bright sunlight. Trump has already confessed on national television that he fired Comey to shut down the Russia inquiry. The Papadopoulos indictment brings forth still more evidence that Trump feared the Russia inquiry because of the contacts it might uncover between his campaign and Russia.

There is no law against an un patriotic, egoist, con artist to sit in the Oval Office. I only say this because I have no idea where it goes, but why would a President be so adamantly opposed to an investigation of Russian attacking our democratic process, and in fact publicly refer to them as a hoax. You are correct...the Papadopoulos revelation seems to fly in the face of the statements that nobody from the campaign ever consulted with the Russians. Seeing the pictures of he with Trump and Sessions is chilling. Still a long way away to go, but today was bigger than I thought. This will go on for a bit. |

The title of this thread is "Lying to the FBI is never a good idea." I would concur. But my rejoinder is "if it is ever a good idea when the FBI does the lying."
The truth about independent/special counsel is that they are given unlimited time and resources and as such set out to find something, anything, and in that I find too much opportunity for abuse of power. Past special counsel investigations have destroyed many an innocent life. What we have here is a political weapon to destroy the other guy. I am inclined , and while not an perfect solution, prefer an investigation by Congress such as that with House Intelligence Committee. etc. However, if this nation is going to continue with a special counsel then by all means apply the same standards. Evidence continues to surface concerning the uranium deal and the implications are far more reaching and criminal in nature than the allegations presently being pursued by Mueller. if the allegations are proven to be true and factual concerning any person named in either of these imbroglios then let them suffer the consequences But not let this turn into a political weapon but rather a non-partisan search for the truth . Personal Best Regards: |

I'd be willing to bet you people wouldn't be complaining so much about Mueller if the special counsel was investigating Hillary. Interesting that with a Republican Congress and Republican President, there is no special counsel investigating her. Obviously there is not a legal cause to appoint one.Trump has always used this "supposed" Hillary misconduct to rally his base, and take the focus off his own misbehavior. Your sob story about destroying an innocent life just doesn't hold true. I look at all the lies Trump has told - from his "birther" fabrications, right on down the line. He is a lying, conniving person, and the Republican base eats it right up. Personal Best Regards: |
