OK comes from the nickname of President Martin VanBuren. His nickname was Old Kinderhook (from his hometown of Kinderhook, New York) During his term in office, he was known to sign documents with OK. It has since been corrupted to the incorrect spelling of Okay or even O'kay.

By the way folks, there was a troll posting in this thread. In the event you don't know what a troll is, it is a member who comes up with a secret identity and posts under a false name in order to cause problems and hopes they will not be identified. Not to worry, we have removed the troll's posts. They have been warned, one more post from the troll and they are banned.
