Here's a fact. The WSJ is owned by News Corp.

While I believe the money was in fact part of the payment for the nuclear deal reached (with more to come) than paying $100M for each of four hostages, I also think the timing of making the first payment was really dumb on the Administration's part.

Although I think they should have made it further apart from the hostage release date, to some of the right-wingnuts even a month difference would have still initiated the conspiracy theory of ransom for the hostages...so it wouldn't have really mattered anyway.

CNM
Actually, regardless of why they gave them that money, they should not have agreed to give them the money at all. Even if it was money via their nuclear arms agreement, they should not have given that money back. Who cares what they think? They are radicals and will do as they choose anyway. To believe you can trust that agreement is to prove to them that America is weak.
Apparently, some folks do not remember the embassy hostage situation that was an embarrassment to Carter.

Good Post . Carter became feckless and was embarrassed each and every day during the Hostage Crisis .
It led to his reelection loss to Reagan and that is how the system should work .
Ford although a very fine man and a long time hard working Congressman was tagged with for a bad economy and rampent inflation .
Remember the silly " WIN " Buttons he introduced ? Stood for
" Whip Inflation Now " which was about as helpful as a rabbit`s foot !
So Ford got " Whipped " by Carter . When Carter allowed himself to become a victim to the Middle-East powers and the economy and inflation worsened --- remember when the Prime Rate was around 18 to 19% ?

The Voters invited Carter to find other employment and gave the reign to Reagan .

And frankly that is what should happen this time but " this time " may end up being the exception which could easily make HRC a one term president .

Show the group where Snopes has it wrong and you may get some traction with that theory.

Of course that may require reading for information, suggesting a counter point and providing sources. It's not as easy as saying Hillery wears too many pants suits.
