IOC bans Russia from 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang

Citing “systematic manipulation” of anti-doping rules, the International Olympic Committee announced Tuesday it has banned Russia from the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. An 14-person panel had been mulling a confidential IOC report that detailed Russia’s official doping program during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and the extensive cover-up.

As a result of this ban, no Russian officials will be allowed to attend the games. Their flag will be excluded from any display, and if any “clean” Russian athletes are given permission to attend, they won’t be competing under the Russian flag. They’ll compete under the name “Olympic Athlete from Russia” (OAR) and the Olympic flag, any medals they win won’t be credited to Russia and the Olympic anthem will be played in any ceremony.

Although the IOC has had to clean up their own act in recent years...they finally did something right.


The real question being now, how long will it take for Trump and his cultists...to start whining about 'poor, poor Putin?'

Did you happen to hear about the long history of this doping?? They do that crap in American professional sports, like baseball and football...do you think the Russians influenced American professional athletes??? I wonder why IOC was unable to curb it prior????

It's political. The TOP athletes dope...they have to, it's the way to reach the absolute top.

Sports competitions, Nobel Peace Prize, Man of the year, Academy awards, et al have lost their prominence in our society because its all based on politics, cheating, greed,etc. What the Olympics once were, in the past, is a distant memory from today.

Actors, professors, journalist with a conservative ideology will seldom, if ever be properly recognized, etc etc etc

Essentially, healthy, honest and honorable competition has vanished from the face of the earth...and despite what the progressives claim, its not Trump's fault
