As someone who left the Republican Party as a result of their total abandonment of conservative values and who spent 8 years upset with the policies, especially foreign affairs, political parties mean little to me anymore.

I will say that, at present, the Republicans are in the process of making themselves look very foolish, which certainly does not mean I give approval to the Democratic Party policies.

Leadership in this time is one total vacuum.

I do agree with your premise however, as this country is so divided, and growing further apart daily.

And, if there is even one single person striving for any kind of unity in this country, they escape my view. No one is even trying.

Yes we ARE divided because there is no majority. Whites are 49%. Hispanics at 30 something %, and RISING rapidly. They ARE the new majority for kids 7 and under, the majority starting school. We'll continue being divided UNTIL the new Hispanic majority is reached and then it will consolidate around THEM...not white people.

How do you have unity when 3 different species are all vying for the same "home range"? There can be only one "winner" and it's looking about 3:5 in favor of the Hispanics right now.

Don't just give it away...don't let them just take it by breeding you out. And don't PAY them to do it!!!

Dear Guest:

Until recently Trump was a Democrat. but then once classical liberalism was defined as being free from government control.

the radical left has moved so far left they have come full circle and are on the right of the right meaning they are actually fascist. don't believe me believe your lying eyes with every protest, town hall meeting brought to a standstill with everything connected to conservatism not accepted a universities, with the continuing hate, attempts at shaming, deception lies, defamation against decent people, etc all supported by the media Progressives are fascist and decent democrats are jumping ship before it sinks deeper and deeper into its hateful abyss .

Personal Best Regards:

Our country is divided because the democrats have moved sooooo far left that they should rally be called the SOCIALIST PARTY-at least Sanders was/is honest about where he sits. The republicans have moved farrrrrrr to the right.

I voted for Trump and am pleased that he has as I had hoped proven to be a bit left of where some Republicans wished him to be.

Will Trump be perfect for all? OF COURSE NOT. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. However, I am sure Trump will be and is better than Obama was or the CLINTON MOB would have been.

FOR YOUR SAKE AND FOR MINE I HOPE MY CHOICE WAS THE RIGHT ONE. SO FAR SO GOOD OR AT LEAST REASONABLY CENTRIST.

Half the leftards DID vote for Sanders in the corrupt and rigged primary election. It just goes to show you that at least half the left really is Socialist. Most of them do not even consider it a slur to be labeled Socialist or Commie. They take more exception to being called libtard than Socialist.

And you are then maintaining that the Republican movement has not moved at all ?????

Listen, as a long long long time active Republican, I left the party because of two things....

1. Their move to the far extreme right. Yesterday a pic of Schumer and Putin eating donuts appeared on Gateway Pundit and Truth Division, both notorious alt right/fake news sites.. today that pic is part of the Presidents tweet.

2, Their dropping of the conservative values that attracted me in the first place

Did the Democrats move left.....yep for sure, but you delude yourself in party extremism if you think the Republican have stayed where they have always been.

This forum alone is a great example. The supposed "conservatives" who post here manifest more of the alt right than real conservatism.

Real answers belong in some sort of compromise and as you point out, the Democrats move left and the Republicans move right and thus the gap gets bigger and Washington is completely devoid of leadership at this time thus I do not see it changing much in the near future.

For example...just one....Trump representing the Republicans say we need more jobs...PERIOD. Democrats, represented by Sanders say we need free education.

JOB MAKERS...CORPORATIONS say...we have the jobs, but nobody is qualified or trained.

Think there is a middle ground there somewhere, somehow.

It used to be companies had apprenticeship programs and never had any problem filling them with qualified people. Now the companies are on the dole and want the government to train their people. The money for training is not there.

I don't care what it says in some media propaganda story...watch him yourself...30 years ago...saying the SAME things he's saying now.

It USED to be that companies could hire/apprentice whom they wanted...when that changed...so did apprenticing. Now most companies are forced to carry 20% dead wood.

Unions slowly suck the life out of companies too. As pay/benefits continue to rise, it reaches a sustainability point...beyond which...the company cannot continue to profit...and begins a collapse.
