Default What in the world...

is happening ?

I will begin by stating that even if this was aimed at MSNBC, I would be shocked at our media in this country to be this "open" about its bias. You will just have to accept that but if this is what we have in the media, we have no hope of EVER beginning to know the truth about anything. I thought the 2008 election was pretty bad and many many professionals were embarassed by the media coverage but it appears it will get worse.

The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

The group, launched as a more traditional media critic, has all but abandoned its monitoring of newspapers and other television networks and is narrowing its focus to Fox and a handful of conservative websites, which its leaders view as political organizations and the “nerve center” of the conservative movement. The shift reflects the centrality of the cable channel to the contemporary conservative movement, as well as the loathing it inspires among liberals — not least among the donors who fund Media Matters’ staff of about 90, who are arrayed in neat rows in a giant war room above Massachusetts Avenue.

This appears to be motivated purely by political leaning and NOT factual reporting.

Gives us folks very little chance anymore

Default Good going, Media Matters!

Woo Hoo, this has finally happened! We elite liberals (or is it liberal elitist?) have been counting the days until Fox New is under fire for it's "fair and balanced reporting" style. I say we all should boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck's program.

Good going, Media Matters!

I rest my case as far as your party first and country second outlook !!!

This thread was not intended to be about Fox news or what it does or does not go..it was to be about media sites declaring war based on political beliefs and doing it so openly.

I figured there would be those shallow party first folks that would post, but hope that there are actually thinking AMERICANS who can see the danger in this and it does not matter left or right.

I would expect nothing else from some posters such as yourself to be flippant about it

Please dont post your usual dribble about enjoying the Villages...we all know that you are happy, contented and dont care about the future, except yours. I enjoy the Villages as much or probably more in my 10 years here but still care a lot about what happens in this country !

Well, Bucco my friend, I simply could not let the chance pass to make a comment when I read your initial posting.

One more case of "whose ox is being gored" isn't it? Bottom line is no matter what is said or printed, Fox News will continue to be the conservative media that it is right now. This is all part of freedom of speech.

You conservatives will complain about these tactics but will cheer other tactics (maybe YouTube videos) that are critical of some liberal stations.

Nothing to get upset about from either side. You are concerned about what happens to the country and think it could not be worse than it is with Obama at the helm. I felt that way with GW Bush at the helm.

I am truly glad you enjoy The Villages - and that you care about your country.

1. You are not my friend

2. I see a big difference between complaining about the spin of one network, left or right, and “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” declared by what is considered a media outlet.

3. I never mentioned Obama or Bush nor see what they have to do with this topic !

4. Your sarcaasm and acid tongue aside, you then agree with the media doing this as long as is in the comfort zone of YOUR politics,

Whatever happened to news organizations reporting facts and letting us decide how to interpret them? Do we really need to be led like a herd of cattle to the conclusion they desire?
I will say this - I despise FOX news. Every time I am in a doctor's office and they have it on (I think it's free to them if they rent from the developer!), I ask them to turn it to CNN. When it was on in Too Jay's at SS, I asked the manager to turn it off. They are the joke in the news industry, especially with their banner of "fair and balanced" - pleeeze! It is way more biased to the right than MSNBC is to the left. I never heard anyone on MSNBC call people "Nazis" like FOX does on a regular basis. Degrees of bias is not the issue, though - it's any bias is too much. And don't get me started on the Daily Sun's right-wing bombardment which I equate to brainwashing. If all you get is one side, people actually start to believe it as fact - it wouldn't be in the newspaper if it weren't true, would it? FOX news couldn't say what they do if it weren't true, could they? Where are Walter Cronkite and Huntley and Brinkley when you need them?

The point is that that Fox News, and whatever unnamed web sites they're after, are not on board with the new socialist promoting media in advancing the socialist agenda and the new world order.

Fox News, and their online counterparts, are constantly broadcasting stories and giving interviews to people who want to expose the coming socialist threat, and are shining a light on their activities. You can see the socialist agenda coming to a head in Europe, with all the socialists and communists rioting. This is what they want in our country. You've seen a little of it in Wisconsin.

It will be much easier to brainwash you, and especially your children, if they can get pesky Fox News off the air so that they once again have the media monopoly again and get to only broadcast the stories they want you to know, and spin them the way they want you to view it.

It's helpful to them that they have a very large number of knee jerk partisan people who are so politically biased that they fail to see the coming threat from the people who have taken over their party. These people are the Soros funded organizations like Media Matters who's primary purpose is to transform the U.S. into a country these "useful idiots" (a term first coined by Lenin in describing communist sympathizers in the West) will not recognize until it's too late.

nitakk---Do you think Walter Cronkite was not biased? He was very left wing. He was a little more suttle about it, then the reporters of today, but he was very liberal.

Just curious but what is it that you and some liberals seem to not like about the 1st amendment?

I do not watch FOX nor do I watch MSNBC but I do believe that they have the right to their opinions and we have a right to watch what we want.

He certainly was. And when he expressed his opinion, the words "Commentary" were displayed on the screen while he was expressing those opinions.

These days, news organization, be they Fox, MSNBC, CNN or anyone else, do NOT do us those favors and we are supposed to assume that, because it's on a NEWS channel, the program we're watching is NEWS and not ENTERTAINMENT.

Default It is all about entertainment, party affiliation

and listener/viewer retention. Reporting the truth is secondary to being first.
The old if it bleeds it leads mentality is the order of the day.

If it is reported by the media, all inclusive, it bears research for verification.
There isn't much decision making required when trying to sort out fact from fiction....if it is on the air, audio, video it is suspect and definitely biased (you pick the direction that suits your leaning).

Bucco, I thought The Villages was supposed to be Florida's Friendliest Hometown and you say you are not my friend? Your political viewpoints are that important to you that you would refuse to be friends with someone on the other end of the political spectrum? I play golf with conservatives and we laugh at each other's barbs of Biden, Bush, Palin, Obama and others.

My offer of getting together over a beer at Cody's Roadhouse still stands.

We have an old fashioned TV... only gets 2 channels: 1) The Golf Channel and 2) Fox News.
