I so look forward to a day when something like that happens when I am in the crowd.

At my grand daughters graduation a couple of years ago, during the singing of the National Anthem several teen age boys were sitting and talking and texting during the playing. Since they were in a row I could easily access I went over and advised them of the proper respect for the National Anthem. Most were apologetic (whether real or not they were polite). One stood up and wanted to know what I was going to do about it. Promptly every male within hearing stood up with an almost or what response...he being what he was flipped the bird (while promptly sitting down).

On anything regarding the status of our nation I will stand and be counted on to not let abuse not go without commentary to the perpetrators.

(and of course my wife keeps telling me I am going to get shot one of these times)......I tell her that is not an excuse to stand idly by.

I also communicate with public and or government actions that honor a minority vote or group to affect how we honor our country. If those who don't like the way we honor our country they always have the option to leave it......at least while those who believe as I do are still in the majority!!!!

Here's a slogan you might try out to see if it becomes popular: Love it or leave it!!

Those hecklers referenced in the OP must be Bill Maher wannabes. Why is it some kids intentionally gravitate toward the negative aspects of living. You know the type making fun of kids who actually want to achieve in academics, music, etc. KIds like this who cannot comprehend that so many gave their lives or suffer injury to keep them safe. I stated in another thread that absence of the draft has created an apthectic younger generation because they have no skin in the game and never will have to...bring back the draft.

Absolute disgrace and those idiots in the crowd yelled at the kids they would go to Hell. go to Hell for singing "God Bless America" ?? I guess in this liberal society of ours a Rap song would be more appropriate. Where is the country we grew up in??

The song was the country song, God Bless The USA, not God Bless America.

Anyhow, no sense to yell at anyone for singing it in an outdooor group. What were the circumstances of the singing the song?

Looks like there is a lot more to this story. The kids hardly look like they want to be singing at this political rally. And the adults who are doing the heckling seem to be directing it at the men in suits orchestrating the singing.

It was at a NY school where the educational authorities had said the song was inappropriate for the kids' graduation. Politicians of both stripes then seemed to use the kids as pawns for their campaigns.

Political rally??

There are kids who are not pleased to be singing? Gee, when I was a kid I always "loved" be made to do things like this instead of being left alone to my own devices. Teachers should just leave kids alone.

It would have been a special thrill to be made to sing in front of ugly faced people who were yelling at me.

I'm sure the children were taking into account that the ugly faced people were maybe not specifically yelling at them.

Actually watch the video, RichieLion, these do not look like kids who are happy to be singing in these circimstances. The men in the political rally in suits seem to be the ones egging them on to sing for the incoming politician who is backing the song.

My thoughts obviously have been dismissed, so I'll return the favor.
