According to the weather app on my phone, we got more than three inches of rain last night.

That seems very high since we only got about 2 inches with Hurricane Ian.

Does anyone have a rain gauge? If so, what is the general area where you live (I have read that rain fall can vary greatly within a few miles) and how much rain did you get? I am interested to see what the variation is in the Villages.

Not enough. Maybe an inch south of 466A.

The wife said our unofficial rain gauge was full to the top -- which registers 3". South of 44.

Thanks for the replies. I am surprised at the huge variation in numbers (they vary from .25 inches in Fenney to 1.1 in Sanibel to 2 in Buttonwood to 3-4 inches south of 44). But at least I looked up a few new Villages to figure out where they are!

So the 3 plus inches that was shown on my phone seems to be an accurate number (near Sawgrass). I have also noticed that the retention ponds are a little higher today - but still very low.

It's a start and I hope we get more inches of rain soon. I'm looking forward to seeing full ponds and more water in Lake Sumter.

The rainy season is June, July, August, and September. We are currently in the dry season that is, unfortunately, well below normal precipitation.

The OP commented on the variation of amounts. For all the newbies who've moved here---the rain here is "spotty". As time goes by and you live here longer you'll see what I mean. It can rain in the front of your house but the sun could be shining in the back of it. Like-wise---it could be raining "cats and dogs" at the square and the sun shining at your house and vice-versa. We can have what I call a brief squall or something more lasting. Another instance I was reading comments earlier this week on NextDoor and someone mentioned the storm we'd had the night before and another piped in and asked, "what storm?"
