Exclamation Hurricane Idalia

Hello Villages Residents! Casandra with Pike's Electric here. Hoping you all remain safe for the approaching Hurricane Idalia and what it may bring to our area. Our office will be closed Wednesday 8/30/23. We plan to resume our normal operations on Thursday 8/31/23.
If you have electrical needs or questions/concerns after the storm passes, we hope that you call on us to help you.

A few tips and pointers for your home's electrical during a hurricane/isolated severe weather conditions:
1. Unplug all of your sensitive electronics. Including TVs, computers, etc. Even electronic furniture if you can do without. This is the best way to protect those items from surge damage. If you do not unplug these items, surge damage can harm the internal components, putting you at risk of replacing those valuable items.
2. Charge your necessary electronics tonight (cell phones, tablets, etc.). then unplug those chargers/items not in use. Unplug countertop appliances you may not be using. Surges can travel through plugged in cords even if not in use!
3. Always practice SAFE portable generator use with a panel interlock/outlet on the outside of the home. NEVER run a portable generator inside your garage or patio.
4. After the storm has passed, and power has been restored, do not use any electrical equipment that may have been submerged in water. Inspect your items before use.
5. After the storm has passed, and power has been restored if applicable, it is not uncommon for circuits to be tripped or needing reset. Check your home's GFI outlets and breakers when it is SAFE TO DO SO. If you have any questions if you are having issues, please do not hesitate to call us!
