I played tennis yesterday (Monday morning) and all of us said it was the hottest we have felt. We cut it short for the first time that I recall in the 16 years I've played here. I didn't check the real temp. Just jumped in the pool as soon as I got home.

Apple Weather App.
Carrot had similar information. When I didn't believe the Apple App, I checked on Carrot. |

Ahhh....the Weather Club....more aptly named THE WHETHER CLUB. It is whether you want to believe opinion (theirs) or scientific facts (backed by thousands of peer reviewed scientific publications).
Run by pseudo scientists with no applicable degrees, the Whether Club presenters rely upon fabricated opinion that is not supported by a single peer reviewed scientific publication. Peer reviewed articles are the gold standard in science. If you ask the Whether Club presenters for any peer reviewed article supporting their statements, they will just simply claim that the peer review system is totally political and leave it at that. All they have is their opinions purportedly backed by no science whatsoever! So, if you attend a WHETHER CLUB meeting, wear galoshes. They are not for the rain but for other fluids that seem to flow in those meetings. Fluids that you don't want your skin touching! |

I would say that this is a good PRACTICAL warning. Age is also a big factor. A 55 year old may be able to handle the heat - whereas a person in their late 70s could be endangering their health. Playing tennis is for both fun and improved health. If it is too hot to be fun, then it might be detrimental, rather than beneficial, to your health. The same would be true for pickle ball, golf, and softball. The only sports activity that I will do THIS summer is swimming because of my age mainly. Also, the summers are getting hotter and the gulf and ocean waters are hotter each year for the last 15 years. So, there is more moisture in the air, which jacks up the "feels like" temperature.

Lived in Florida much of my life and have rarely experienced temps above 100. Tampa's record high is 99 deg, lower than many large NE US cities.

Thanks for the snow/hail report. There are "COLD" weather "record" reports occurring everyday around the world, but the media rarely tells you -- but you can find some of those stories here ... Home - Cold Weather Report
