Default More Daily Sun Climate Alarmism

The Dec 3 issue had a Hurricane article. (1). It said this year was another record-breaking season -- but forgot to mention we had 21 storms this year and 30 storms last year. (2). It said this year's Atlantic storms had higher than average ACE (Accumulated Cyclone Energy) -- but forgot to mention that the Global storm ACE average was way below average. (3). The article said storm surges will be higher as seas rise -- but failed to mention that seas are only rising about 1.5 millimeters a year. (4). The article used variations of the phrase "rapid intensification" 12 times -- where they forgot to mention that many storms also rapidly weakened when they hit dry air and/or land -- plus both Surface and Satellite data measured noticeably cooler temperatures as compared to last year.

Did not read the article, but I'm guessing Mauna Kea is where the winter advisory is for.
Ever hear of folks snow skiing in Hawaii?

at one time talking about the weather was a casual conversation between neighbors

nowadays weather forecasting and the on-the-scene reporting during a storm is pretty much akin to watching any of these 'marooned on an island' reality shows...

the hype is all about the rating, it's big business and advertisers pay a lot to hand out free jackets and ski parkas with their logo on it to the star performers...the production crews are dispatched to several locations to keep us up to date on what's happening.... the minor show within the real show is now the weather... wrapped around as much drama and suspense as possible.

back in the day, the weather forecast was at the end of the nightly news programs, and it was straight ahead weather, no frills

just saying

Of course the weather changes. It changes both in the short term and in time-periods mentioned in eons. And it is only the hubris of our species that allows some of us to think that OUR actions have any effect at all on those changes.
