I've been to several Sonny's (North Carolina, Tampa) including LSL. Consistent everywhere and the LSL Sonny's has a very personable greeter at the door.

We like Sonny's -- never had a bad meal--
Oakwood ribs seem to be greasy and underdone for our taste!! Eddie and Susan

Let's just say there are better BBQ places than Sonny's.

Pork that is pulled easily from the bone and the bone appearing dry means the meat was overlooked or maybe even boiled before grilling. At least that is what they taught us at KCBS BBQ judges school. But it hardly matters. Ribs are very subjective to individual tastes to judge. If you like your ribs pulling off the bone then by all means continue to go to places you
Iike. |

My son-in-law in Ohio (southern born and bred) wants me to get dry ice and ship Sonny's to him in Dayton, OH. That is a pretty good endorsement, however, we like Oakwood ourselves......

I have never had problems with Sonny's ribs. I only eat the lunch order - 3 ribs because I no longer can eat a half or full rack. The only time I have a problem is when I get the end of the rib and the end piece is always overdone. But that is seldom. Anyway, when I get the end I get four ribs so at least three are good eating. Very meaty.
I like them dry (as opposed to cooked in sauce) because I can avail myself of the various flavors of sauces they have. If I have one complaint, it is that they do not carry the mustard sauce in a squirt bottle. I hate the little packages of mustard sauce. Z

Pork ribs that are taken from the whole spareribs of the hog, which have had the brisket bone and some meat surrounding it removed so the cut appears more rectangular in shape. When this cut is processed the small tips of meat trimmed from the ribs are available as Brisket Bone Rib Tips. In comparison to whole spareribs which can weigh up to 5 pounds, the St. Louis Style Sparerib will most often weigh up to the 3 pound range. If you go to Publix and look at the St Louis style rib pack vs a full rib pack, that is what they look like - rectangular with the top part removed. Personally I like the top part. It has that cartilage grisly and fatty but is good chewing. I also like the baby back ribs at Publix - lots of meat on them. Anyway, the regular ribs at Sonny's are St Louis cut and they are very meaty. I have not tried the baby back ribs there. Z
