I have been pricing out a new golf cart. Two salesmen recommended the larger "65" tire over the "50" tire saying it improved the stability and increased speed by about 10%. The negative is the price increases between $375 and $425 for the larger " 65" tires.
Has anyone tried the larger tires and is it worth the additonal cost? |

Did I miss something? How can a tire with a greater road surface contact increase vehicle speed?

I put the lower profile tires on the front and the 65's on the back and picked up about 2mph on my wifes cart.
The 10" low profile tires are not any taller then the stock 8" tires that are normal sized on carts. The 65 series are taller and will not fit all carts. In order to have them on my 2005 Yamaha I would need a small lift kit for them not to rub anything. I paid about $65 each for new 10" 65 series mounted on white rims. I also prefer the ride on the 65 series compared to the low profile tires. ![]() |

The larger tires will give u a better ride and will increase the speed of the cart. Go for it.

I then called Lady Lake Quality Tire on 466 and their service manager, Vaughn, said he would take my old tires in trade and charge me $50 total for 4 new 65's. The price included mounting them on my rims. So, for $12.50 each I now have 205/65/10 tires on my cart. The 65's he sold me are Villages Golf Course approved. |

Link: http://www.csgnetwork.com/tireinfo4calc.html I get a smoother ride with the higher profile tires and have no problems with them rubbing any body or frame parts. |

It's on the right side of 466 about 2 blocks from the 466-441/27 junction in Lady Lake. The place doesn't look like much, but they do good work and are honest.

Does anyone know if the 205/65/10 tire will fit a 2008 Club Car gas with no lift kit, without any rubbing? The Club Car is the Precedent model.
