This morning, approximately mid-morning, my husband came back from Table Tennis and passed a male person laying stretched out in the road with a golf cart up on the grass verge. This is on Davenport in the Village of Summerhill. There is a 40 house garage sale in Summerhill this morning and we could not move for golf carts flying all over the place, crossing the road without looking etc. etc. I wonder whether the powers that be could designate a garage sale area such as a parking lot at one or more of the Rec Centers so that people on the hunt would just go to one destination instead of driving all over the place looking for signs and balloons etc. One of our neighbors said he had to abandon his morning walk due to the golf carts dodging in and out looking for the sales.

Maybe the accident had nothing to do with the garage sale.
Doubt if there would be available central parking near most of the neighborhood garage sales. It is what it is! |

Great idea!! Garage sales tie up the whole neighborhood. WE DID THIS IN SUN CITY AND IT WORKED GREAT.

...I am wondering; should I buy a golf cart or a Hummer? We're moving down late April and hope things are not as bad as some of these posts indicate. Golf carts and bicycles do not have airbags. I just hope problems are not as prevalent as the posts suggest; otherwise it sounds like driving in Rome (everyone for themselves).
Perhaps golf carts for just around our village (Fernandina), the mail pick-up, and the golf courses. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't think it's anymore terrible then 9 months ago when I was driving in Baltimore. I've been driving since 1965 and have never had an accident. It's called defensive driving. Don't trust anyone else. I grew up in St. Petersburg and learned to drive there, Johnny Carson once called St. Pete 'the town of the walking dead'.
In 1975 I had nothing but a motorcycle for the entire year. I can't remember how many times old timers tried to run me off the road. I think if everyone drove a motorcycle for a period of time they would be a much better car driver. Anyway, I don't mind driving in TV. It's almost like flying an airplane, you sometimes have to wing it, not everything is on the straight and narrow. |

Well I do not mean to rain on your parade so to speak but unfortunately an accident can happen just about anywhere. After having almost 40yrs of never being in an accident my wife & I were hit by a drunk driver while sitting at the stop sign waiting to leave our mail stop about 3yrs ago. You just never know. |
