You can buy the Atomic golf carts from the importer in Frankfort, IL for 10,500 plus shipping and no tax.

An LSV, by law, cannot be capable of exceeding 25 mph. If any dealer modifies a LSV to exceed 25 mph, they are taking on a lot of liability and breaking Federal law.

I'm sure there are some people that like this sort of thing, but personally, I want a golf cart to be a golf cart. I want to be able to open the windshield and feel the wind blow. I like it go 20-24 mph and not more. I do like the idea of maintenance free batteries. I assume that they are lithium ion batteries which I understand are currently available for all carts. In another four or five years when my batteries go I'll probably go with lithium.

You really shouldn't compare these to standard golf carts. They should be compared with the Gem and the Ford Think. They are really a different category of vehicle. If that's what your parents want, then it seems that this one has it all over other LSVs.
LSVs do not need to be registered and insured unless you want to license them for street legal use. You can operate them as a golf cart without any registration or insurance. I think lithium batteries add around $2000+ to an existing golf cart.

The almost automobile feel of the Atomic generates a very false sense of security. At least when driving my Yamaha I know it's a POS and drive accordingly.

Best call DMV about not registering LSV. Also you can not purchase insurance unless it is regstered and tagged.

I didn't think they were allowed also, but I have seen them on courses a couple of times.

I really don't think that accident was the carts fault; just like guns can't pull their own trigger; there usually is a human element involved.

The guy that T-boned the cart was driving a Dodge Ram pickup.

NEITHER of these facts are relevant to this discussion.

That cart looks pretty good after being tee boned by a pickup at any speed.
