Grandpa and Grandma's Village Buggies, Hgwy 441, Summerfield, 352.552.8454 [vicki] or 352.552.8478 [scott] newer carts with sunbrella enclosure.

website: http://www.grandpaandgrandmasvillagebuggies.com

great to deal with, open Mon-Fri 'til 6pm, pick-up and delivery, village residents; downside - they don't work weekends.

Jim Followell rents gas carts. They're good quality carts, not the dogs you get from The Villages. He's a Villages resident and happily goes out of his way to help you. I know of several TOTVers who have used him and been quite happy with the results. You can reach him at 352/259-7525.

Default Renting a Golf Cart

I would really do my homework before renting from an individual who has a couple of cart to rent. Are they licensed to do business - insurance - speed legal - etc, I personally would not rent from someone with just a web site, and no brick and mortar site.

Don't know about the other referrals here, but I do know Jim Followell has been renting carts for several years, always has at least 20 in stock (last time I talked to him, he had 85 carts) and both rents and sells carts. He does not have a store and does work out of his home with the carts stored in various locations. However, he is insured, not sure about licensed.

I've found TV to be unique in how many businesses operate. It seems much more is done by individuals rather than contractors, store fronts, etc. I'd guess this is because of the abundance of retirees whose working life was spent in specific trades. They don't to work full-time, they don't want the hassles of owning a business per so but they want or need the income, so work out of their homes. Where I was from in California, referrals honestly didn't mean that much -- you checked the BBB and went with the best deal and if it happened to be someone that was referred to you, great; if not, oh well. Here, referrals are your lifeblood -- both for the business and for the individual hiring.

I just rented a golf cart from grandpaandgrandmasvillagesbuggies.com for the first week in April. The cost was $100.00 + tax. Their phone number is 352-552-8478. I don't know how good it will be but hopefully it will run good

Default Another good choice is...

Royal Palm Rentals - they advertise in the Daily Sun and their number is 352-205-7650. We have a home in the Village of Duval but no golf cart just yet so whenever we come down to visit we always rent one. They deliver it to the house and then come back and pick it up when we're ready to go home. We previously used H & H but after they changed owners we had some bad experiences with them and since we also rent our house out we didn't want our renters to get stranded at night with no lights (like we did). Really sad thing is that was the 2nd cart they brought to us because of problems....
we've been very pleased with the carts, the service and the price from Royal Palm!
