I have a governor on my gas cart and just about every golf cart passes me by and some are going almost the speed of the cars on Churchill Downs. These are usually going 30-35 mph.

The governor only allows me to go 19.9 or so. Unless coasting down hill.

Electric carts still have suspensions, wheels and tires so that mechanical stuff can use periodic inspections, lubrication and adjustments. The electronics in the electric carts and chargers have diagnostics that can be run too. I take mine in once a year for this service.

My question is why do some people want a cart to run faster wouldn’t it make sense to leave your house 5 mins. sooner! Every cart that I’ve seen come up behind me passes me, what’s the big hurry?

My golf cart insurance company will not cover me unless I have the governor set for 20 mph, which I did. Other carts get annoyed at my slower speed but I feel safer and know I am insured.

So they can easily pass you going just a few MPH faster...
