We have an EZGO golf cart and the charger died. Took it to the Golf Cart Garage in Lake Sumter to make sure the charger was dead. They said it was not working. Asked them how much to replace the charger and they said $649!! I looked on the internt and the range of prices for a replacement ran from about $250 to the most expensive $469. There was one for $289 which had 5 stars and all the reviews loved it. My question is what the heck kind of competitive charger can cost $649? Tried to
ask the person at the garage but he was not available???Any ideas? (We did order the $289 one and it came in a day and works great?) ![]() |

The smaller EZGO chargers are problematic at best. We went through 2 of them before going to Battery Boys and buying a bigger one. I can't remember the price, but it wasn't cheap. Haven't had a problem since. I'm not sure, but I think the smaller one's overheat in your garage during the summer. I hope this helps.

I assume the one you bought online was exactly the same one you had, or did you compromise on the technical specs? We can always find things less expensive online but it's important to get into the weeds to make sure accurate comparison is made.

That is a good question. We did look at the reviews of the one that we had and stopper working and the reviews for the one we finally bought. The one we had had a 2 star rating and was rated poor by the ones who responded to the review.
The one we bought had 5 stars and everyone who responded like it. I know the risks of believing the reviews as they can be from ones who are tied to the Manufacturer? We took that risk. The one we bought was 1/2 the price of the one that was suggested by the Cart people. We crossed our fingers hoping we made the right choice? ![]() |

I have one better, friend had a Polaris(?) golf cart, no longer made, charger failed, not repairable, replacement was $929 before tax and shipping!!! I reviewed the original unit specifications, found a Yamaha replacement charger (48v 15a) for $279, and found a Yamaha replacement socket for $25. Took out the old Polaris socket, installed the new Yamaha socket and a custom cover plate, and it has worked perfectly for over a year. I agree with above you need to match specs, in this case, confirmed battery type, voltage and amperage requirements. There was no additional wiring connections for temperature or other battery information to the charger.
