Default Charger Repair?

The charger for my Club Car has been acting up and is no longer under warranty. Any suggestions as to repair person/shop to contact?

/* I am not an expert, but enjoy cart talk */

I think it would be helpful to further define the issue. Some questions that arise:

What are the details of the Club Car (Year, make, maybe serial number)

What is the charger doing? This will help you isolate the potential issue further, i.e.,

Does it click on?
Club Car chargers have a 3 step startup, they click on (needle to right), needle goes down to left, needle finally goes over to right. This all happens within a minute. What does your do?
Is the battery pack OK, I "think" a 48V pack requires 30ish volts in the pack for the charger to come on.
Does it shut off?

Chargers seem to last forever. Batteries......not so much.
Are you sure it is the charger that is the problem?

I guess I did not really answer your question when I first responded to your original post. If you do not wish to look at the issue yourself, I guess I would trust Steve's Golf carts to evaluate it. Others have mentioned folks they trust to only fix what is wrong in other threads.

Saying the charger does not work is too vague. If you think about it the issue could be the AC outlet does not work, do not laugh I have seen this.

So, if you want to get some insight, post what the charger does or does not do and folks will try to help.

Good Luck

If I was pretty sure I was having a charger problem, I would take mine to EZGO - where I got it from - and ask them to check it out. But this would be after I tried another A/C outlet to charge the cart.

The problem with battery chargers is that they are not interchangeable and it is hard to borrow one from a neighbor unless he has the same cart/charger that you have.

Any service department can probably check it out and get back to you within a day.

At that point, if it is the charger, you will have to determine where you will purchase a new charger. They are not cheap.

Thanks for the replies. Batteries are new and wall plug is fine. Charger amp meter does not work, slight hot waxy smell when first charging and tends to overcharge the batteries, ie., meter in red zone. Looking for someone to evaluate and fix what is wrong. Is there anyone that provides a rebuilt exchange on these things? I know I can take it back to cart store but am looking for trusted person to fix.
