This in Summerhill last week. Cart was being charged and nobody was home. Quick action by the fire department saved the house. Sounds like a call to Dan Newlin might be in order.

is that the battery box still intact?

That looks like a RayPow aftermarket lithium conversion battery, not a factory install -- so it's possible a DIY install or incorrect charging could have contributed.

Certainly looks like it. Not nearly the destruction that we've been told to expect from a lithium battery fire.
Fire took out the driver's side of the cart but not the passenger's side. I don't see any melted connector where the charging cable would plug in or any signs of a power cable running to the cart. I wonder what that fan-looking thing near the battery is - could it be some sort of accessory that failed and burned? My cart has an empty space there, nothing at all to burn. Perhaps this cart had an inboard charger (mine is outside the cart) and it was the charger that caught fire and not the lithium battery?

Potentially the charger or some part of the charger and extension cord, charger power supply cord. Not a lithium battery fire. |

Certainly not a new cart, but a lithium battery conversion. Looks like a lot of stuff burned - except the lithium battery.

I’m not fire marshal Bob but the battery appears intact and something else around the (probably part of the conversion) caught fire. Who is Dan Newlin, a fire inspector or fire starter, LOL?

Short? Bare wires touching metal, two wires chafed through? Wire got hot melted plastic shorted out?

Rule #1: Never leave home when a battery charger is at work.

No matter if it was the batter, charger or other, it was an electric cart.
Which is why I purchased a GAS cart. I just removed 99.9% of the devices that could send my cart, and house, up in flames. But that’s just me. |

Your gas cart has a battery that can vent explosive gasses and a tank of five gallons of explosive liquid. But as long as it makes you more comfortable.
