Question Buying from a dealer

When buying a golf cart from a dealer in, or around, The Villages, is the price fixed, or is it negotiable? Being from Indiana, there aren't alot of golf carts, other than on the golf courses.

I bought mine at The Villages Golf Car store at LSL three years ago this month. The sales price with options is displayed on the windshield on most of the carts in their showroom and outside, just like a car dealer. They didn't seem to be negotiable, however this time of year they say they are discounting models so there is room for new models. Usually they have a big full page ad in the newspaper when they having a sale.

I still have my sales contract from 2011, the base price was $8795 and they discounted $650 off that price. I wasn't in a hurry because I had 75 boxes in my garage that needed unpacking. So for that reason, I didn't buy one off the floor and just picked out the options I wanted. Which was black and included the Ultimate Seats $1495, rear LED roof light Bar $90, 2 large side folding mirrors $64, SS Wheels set of 4 $120, Fuel gauge $90, Painted black roof $299, 2 sand bottles $80, 2 sides running lights $90, Ball and club washer $50, Grocery bag $50, Leather steering wheel cover $28, Floor mats N/C, Carbon fiber looking dash N/C, 6 Pack Cooler N/C. It came to about $10,000 plus there is 7% sales tax in Sumter County. They delivered the cart to my home N/C.

You ask, why do you need two sand bottles? So when your golfing partner makes his shot, he has a bottle on his side of the cart. It will save him a few steps and time. It also gives you a place to put stickers. A fellow on my softball team is a Colts fan, I grew up a Baltimore Colts fan.

Thanks. That was helpful. Were the side curtains included in the base price? I like the way your cart looks. I always felt bad that we stole the Colts, but we sure have enjoyed having them.

Yes, all the curtains were included in the base price and anything else that I didn't list on the options was included. There is probably 30 choices of colors in the fabrics. I had also considered a light gray cloth with burgundy and black stripes and the Ultimate Seat in gray with a burgundy seat inserts. Then the black & gold combination caught my eye, I think it was a Saints cart.

The ultimate seat has just as many choices, combined with the fact the seat and seat panels can be any combination of colors. This Ultimate Seat is a middle grade, they have about 9 models and are an advertiser on this site. The lower models don't have a center armrest, which I really like a lot. I like driving the cart like my car, left hand on the steering wheel and right arm on the armrest. The more expensive seats have a more contoured seating area, which looks good but I found a little too hard on the butt.

No problem with the Colts, but whenever I see the uniform it brings back memories. Now, if you were a steelers fan, that would be a different story.

Right now the Villages Golf Carts is having a nice sale on their 2014 carts. It's worth a look.
