Default a $25 bark

It was a Chinese fire drill at our house on Tuesday. DH was going to Ocala for volunteer work. I was to take the dog to the groomer in Leesburg, go to my strength training class at Miona, then pick up the dog.

Landscapers pulled up outside to plant a neighbor's palm. Crosby was in the den peering out the window (he's nosy). He sees the landscaper, barks once. This startles the Cockatiel, who flies out of his cage, crash-lands into the sofa and breaks a blood feather. Must get the rest of it out or he'll bleed to death, but I don't know how.

DH climbs up into the attic to retrieve the travel cage. He takes the dog to the groomer, then goes to Ocala. I take the bird to the vet and miss weights class.

The lesson here: Isa can fly, but he can't steer.

All for a single bark.

The joys of pet ownership - but if I had a nickel for every time my pets made me smile, I'd be a millionaire!

This is so true! But sometimes it's like having a couple of toddlers running the house

What a story, I had no idea that birds have blood feathers and could bleed to death. Yikes. Sometimes I tell my dogs they just cause too much work and dirt and confusion. But they just smile because they know I don't mean it.

Dogs are just like babies and that's why so many people love them.

Despite various small inconveniences, we will never, ever be without a pet. They just bring so much happiness into the equation. Hey, the kids are gone; now I need someone to complain about!

Well, I'll have you know that I am the absolute ruler of my mutt!

She tells me that every night after I have fed her, taken her out and cleaned up after her, given her treats and petted her until she falls asleep.

YEP - she sure knows who the boss is !

My dog is very smart. After 5 years of training I finally am the obedient master that every dog dreams of!
