I just read an article about a guy who left his dog in the car for 2 hours. He thought the dog would be okay. He didn't leave his windows down because he was afraid it would rain. Some people passing by noticed the dog in distress and called the police. But the dog ended up dying. The case has been turned over to the prosecutor's office.
Can someone please tell me what these people who do this are thinking? It just makes my blood pressure go up thinking about it. |

As gut-wrenching as it is, everyone makes mistakes....big ones.
His conscience will plague him forever. That will be enough. If he had not cared a lot about the dog, he wouldn't have been taking him out with himself in the car....he'd had left it chained up in a hot yard where the dog could've died, too. Also, since he was looking at rain approaching, it was maybe a cooler day and he underestimated the heat buildup. Not making excuses.....just pointing out we are all flawed and in need of the benefit of the doubt. |

That's so horrible. Some people don't think. It's really sickening to hear these stories of animal abuse.

That's so sad. Here's a link to a similar story. It has a chart that shows how quickly the temperature rises in a car even with windows open and even when the temperature is only 75 outside. This happens way too often. If you google it, there are so many cases of two and three year old children being left in the car and dying. So terribly sad.

People really are stupid I have two cockers and I worry more about them more than myself. Maybe I'm stupid they are like your best friends. They sometimes or rather most often times they eat better than I do.

Did the police not show up? If they didn't I would have risked jail and broken the windows. I hope this guy sees some jail time!

the man was obviously NOT thinking or caring if the priority was to not let some rain get in the car VS the the dog's welfare.
People who do that, mistakes not allowed, should be marked some way to ban dog ownership for the rest of their lives. A child left in the car under the same circumstances would not be considered a mistake. A dog, at least for us, is a member of the family....same ethics, same responsibilities, same punishments....taking the life of a family member. btk |

I hope charges are brought againist him, I will never understand why anyone thinks that even 15 minutes in the heat in a car is safe....2 hours...that deserves charges!

What does make sense is that this person is not well-read or has no situational awareness, or he would have known how quickly it gets broiling hot in a car in summer. I mean, what dog owner doesn't know this??? |

I was wondering what he could possible be doing for those 2 hours while his dog was in the car. There was another newspaper article stating that he was in a nearby restaurant.

Not long before CiCi's closed, I was waiting in the parking lot to meet hubby for pizza. As I waited, a whimpering dog caught my attention. A few spaces down, there was a little dog struggling to breathe through a small crack in the pick-up truck's window. The dog was obviously in a great deal of distress. I looked in the truck, no water, nothing but a blanket. I went into CiCi's and asked the manager to call attention to the truck's owner that the dog was in distress. He didn't want to do that, so I announced, loud enough for others to hear, that I was calling the police about the dog.
As I walked outside, cell phone in hand, a rough-looking couple came out saying the dog was theirs, he was fine in the truck, and the husband shared that he should shoot me for not minding my own business. The CiCi's manager did bring out some water for the dog, which was immediately inhaled. After a few additional threats, the husband went back inside to eat and the wife left with the dog. The police never did show up, but the dog apparently survived. Yes, I'd do it again! |
