Any suggestions of interesting places in or near the Villages to walk your dog?
I am getting a little bored with the old Doggie Doo Run Run routine where I have been going since November 2006 or so without a dog. Then January 2007 with a dog except for a few days in between when we lost Sport and were looking for a new dog in April of 2014. I still love the owners Scott and Laura and enjoy most of the people at Doggie Doo Run Run but want to broaden my social horizons and meet new people. My 224 613 Project has crept in there too but I knew that would happen eventually as it has a life of its own. We do go to Paradise Dog Park but I do not care for the dog park on Bonita Way. Mulberry Dog Park is an option along with the Springdale Walking Trail. At there is Atlas Dog Park but it is kind of far from Lynnhaven. The Squares are fun too when not crowded and I doubt if Beau would like all the noise after the party gets started at these places. How about the Polo Field? Does anyone have more information about the Polo Field and walking pooches during the Summer?? |

Where would this be Chi-Town?
Have been to a few places in between going to Doggie Doo Run Run once in a while. Still need to catch up on what is happening at Doggie Doo Run Run. Some of them are e-mail and Facebook friends as well. And I have been seeing some of these people at DDRR since November on 2006 when they had some pet adoption events while I was looking for our first dog in the Villages. |

Tal, I was just being facetious, because there was a thread about dogs running around there. However, I did see what looks like a new dog park called th Atlas Canine Recreation Park off Moyer Loop that looked nice. |

Lake Okahumpka Park off Route 44, east of Wildwood. Between Buena Vista and Morse Blvd. Very nice.
The dog park in Wildwood. At the corner of Powell Road and Huey Street. Fenced and shady. Only drawback is not 2 distinct areas for small and large dogs. Not exactly sure of location but have seen people walking dogs in vicinity of Buena Vista near Lake Miona Rec Center. Near where the beautiful azaleas bloom. |

I do like to be familiar with the dogs that frequent a dog park where it is all dogs thrown together like that as Beau -- like me actually-- has no idea of his size. |

I have been checking out new places for Beau and going at new times for me to Doggie Doo Run Run.
A change in time brings a different group of people at Doggie Doo Run Run. It's so so wet in the morning though and I do not feel like digging for my knee high boots that I had when I was walking around in Minneapolis in two feet of snow. I do hope to meet a lot of new people on my and Beau's travels. One thing, I do not like to talk about my 224 613 Project all that much as it brings back a lot of rather quite traumatic memories related to the 2-24-1976 murder of Michelle Mitchell on my birthday, City of Reno : Latest News my getting four degrees to do something about a niche in practical information accessible through or in libraries, and then my 25.75 years fighting the powers that be to get this information to the people who most need it. I have had a lot of victories and just as many defeats in this fight but it has had a lot of emotional and personal costs for me any my family. I do talk about my professional work with Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners as that was just work I did while a law student. The 224 613 Project is deeply personal but also has impacted many people as I have had the help of many people who have understood-- often on the same personal level-- what I have been trying to do. So, if you bring this 224 613 Project up I might just walk away as politely as I can. I am seldom rude to anyone as pretty much anyone at Doggie Doo Run Run will tell you. I have been going there 9.5 years almost every day. Part of why Beau and I are travelling is that my 224 613 Project has its own life and it has started to affect places I thought were safe havens from it. But it is hard for me not to talk about this labor of love that I have been doing since January 1991 which I sincerely believe has had a tremendous impact mainly because of the respect for it from some friends I have made online primarily since January 1991 (those early ones were made in person or via snail mail). 224 is my birthday and 613 is my subject number at the University of California, San Francisco Health Sciences Campus. This was on stress on the unemployed. The 17 week study was in late 1992 and early 1993. Myra Young was my intervewer/researcher. Very nice woman that I remember. I had been kicked out of Law Librarianship by some very powerful librarians for forcing this issue while I was also the cataloger of all the WESTLAW databases for a national project working with conjunction with someone doing the same for LEXIS at Suny Buffalo. I was at the U of MN Law Library after graduating from Law School in 1989. This would make a very powerful movie if I could get it past the lawyers who would need to be involved with anything like this. That does mean I have to be very careful about what kind of personal choices I make day-to-day. Last edited by Taltarzac725; 08-05-2016 at 03:30 AM. |

Ran into a woman I used to know at Doggie Doo Run Run at one of those new places I have been visiting. She had been helped a great deal by the wife of one of the DDRR regulars.
I hope Nick and Nora's owners see this. I had a very nice visit with this woman and she seems to be doing quite well because of the love and friendship you showed her. Or being a very good neighbor. I will get back to DDRR eventually but like checking out new places and meeting new people. Last edited by Taltarzac725; 08-04-2016 at 01:12 PM. |
