Default Doggie Do Run Run

Newbie question: I see references to this dog park all the tine. Can someone tell me what and where it is? I need to get my little guy some dog playtime after our move. He's ready....so am I!

Also, the Mulberry Park - I've gone looking for it but being directionally challenged, have yet to find it. I live south of 466A. Any tips on getting there would be appreciated.

Me, and my dog, thank you.

It's a long ride for you just to exercise your pooch ............ but, drive Buena Vista all the way down to the lights at 466, (Laurel Manor Rec Center on your right at the light). Turn left onto 466 and drive to 101 which is at a light (Belvedere & 101). There is a CVS on the corner and Southern Trace Shopping area on the right. Turn right onto 101 and just continue on this lovely old country road for a couple of miles and you will see Doggie Do Do sign on the right.

If you have a Village map you will see that 101 is in the vicinity of the village of Summerhill.

Dog Parks

For Mulberry Dog Park go up Buena Vista all the way to Belle Meade Circle and take the first right going East on Belle Meade Circle. The dog park is a walk from the Rec Center on Bell Meade going north maybe 400 feet. Not sure if the parking for cars is allowed still but someone who frequents Mulberry Park can add this information. Very far ride for a golf cart from below CR466A.

Mulberry Park: It's right behind the Springdale pool. If going by car, park at the pool/mailbox area and walk. If by cart, turn left (if coming from Springdale gate) right before the pool area (exercise trail). You'll see the doggy park towards your right. It's a nice park but not a lot of shade.

If you want a doggy park with a lot of shade, go to the Paradise park. It's near the golf cart bridge going over 441.

Hope you and your pooch have fun.

Sorry, Tal, it's Springdale, not Belle Meade -- no parks there.

Pets In The Villages, Florida

The address for the Mulberry Dog Park supposedly is on Belle Meade Circle in Springdale near the Springdale pool.

Is there no longer car/truck parking there in the trees from a turnoff north of the fire station? There was one 6 months or so ago.

Probably the best within The Villages is Mulberry Dog Park. The address is Belle Mead Circle, behind Springdale Village Pool. I say it is the best because it is wide open, with large separate spaces for large and small dogs. There is not much shade, but in January and February the sun feels really good. As the sun sets you do get some shade from the bushes nearby. If you live South of 466, you may want to take the car because it is quite a journey in the golf cart.

There's one much closer to you on Buena Vista behind that old farmhouse at Bonita, between the farmhouse on the circle and the fire station. Can't recall the name but it's two words. Nice and shaded, small and large dog sections.

That's Brinson-Perry. Quote below from linked article. http://www.retirementinthevillages.com/Pets.html
That piece has a photo of the Brinson-Perry dog park's small dog section which you can tell they put on a rather steep hill which is quite a pain to walk on while picking up your dog's pooh while also avoiding feces that others have not gathered.

A new one was added in 2011 (Brinson-Perry). It is in the picture above. I really hope they put one South of 466A, but haven't heard of one yet. To attend the parks you will need to bring proof of vaccinations. Their tag on their collar, or the paperwork will work. I am glad about that because none of us want our dogs to get sick from a dog that has not been immunized. All of the parks have water and waste disposal bags available.

If you hear someone yell "OUTGOING," it means someone's dog made a mess and they need to stop visiting long enough to clean it up! Oh yes, I have heard more gossip at the dog park than anywhere else, it's usually about dogs though! I have been to each of the dog parks listed.

We made it to Doggy Doo Run Run today. What a great dog park. We will be going again despite the drive. Because of the time of day and the heat, only 1 other small dog there. We'll make it early morning next time and hopefully there will be more "action". Thanks everyone for the information.
