We need insight.
Our 14 year old calico has taken to screaming throughout the night. These are blood curdling cries for no apparent reason. We would appreciate any insights. |

a trip to the vet is in order. I have 2 cats and they don't scream or cry like that without a reason. Please get him/her checked out.

Our 18 year old calico does the same thing.. but during the day and throughout the night. We were told it may be feline senility. She is not in pain. She does not hear nor see well anymore either. We will try to deal with it as long as we can.
Good Luck. You are going to need it. There is lots on google on this: search: feline senility http://www.fabcats.org/owners/elderly/senility.html The most commonly seen changes include spatial (space) or temporal (time) disorientation, altered interaction with the family, changes in sleep-wake cycles, house-soiling with inappropriate urination/defecation, changes in activity, and/or inappropriate vocalisation (often displayed as loud crying at night |

My 17 year old Ivan wakes me every night crying. I always get up and check on him and he always seems okay. I would not know what it would be like to sleep straight through until morning!

Could possibly be urinary tract infection or blockage. Just a guest.
I had a cat with this problem one time and she would cry and keep going to the litter box with no results. Deb |

If your cat has suddenly starting doing this, it may be a physical problem. Or it may be a reaction to something that has changed in the environment. You may want to PM Chelsea 24, her husband Vetman is very knowledgeable.

Our Francis did that during the last 5+years of his 22 years. We think he "got lost" in the middle of the night, and was trying to find us. During his last year or 2 Francis would also start hollering in the afternoon whenever he woke up from a nap. When you tell your kitty you're there & everything is ok does he quiet down?

Missy has been checked physically. The vet found nothing, and told us "some cats do that".
She will cry out even when we are in a room together. |
