All dogs are welcome in TV, to visit or to live. They just need to be leashed unless they are on your property or in a designated dog park. They must be cleaned up after and not a bother to any neighbor (ie: barking). We have the largest of dogs here and the miniest of dogs also.

Lady up the street has her daughter and her Bernese Mountain Dog visit on a regular basis. They don't get much bigger than that. Love when he's around.

A couple months back we made a similar inquiry and were told large dogs are acceptable.

I think the dog must fit in a baby carrage.

Only the elderly or handicapped dogs who are unable to walk well. Had a Dachshund that spine was so bad, she used wheels or a stroller. Many elderly pups here because we are all~~~middle aged~~~.

Over on the Gulf side of FL, many of the condominium buildings also have a size limit on dogs. We know because we have house-hunted there. One of our MI friends found a place on the bay in Sarasota that they bought mostly because it was one of the few places they saw while condominium hunting that allowed dogs over a certain size. They had a 70-lb yellow lab. I would not consider a beagle to be a large breed. But I think OP was referring to the fact that the majority of the dogs you see in TV are of the toy size, or at least 20 lbs. or less. Vis-a-vis that, she might think a beagle mix was considered a larger breed. Just my speculation.

The top reason we ended up buying in The Villages .... they have no restrictions on size of dogs.
As you can see in my picture, we have a large rescue, Lollipop. The little guy is Biggins. The Villages is very pet friendly. Dogs must be leashed and kept off private property. And of course, you must pick up after your dog! There is a huge private dog park, $3 per day, if you want details please PM me.
