They do cover expenses...….I had intended to do that. I went to the Blessing of the Animals last October to help such an organization at their table, while waiting for my foster dog. At the event my pup found me, and now we are a family, fostering is a terrific idea though. Thanks for the compliments, he is a very special little guy.

Most of you that are concerned about rescues probably already click on these two sites every morning.

Just a reminder:

www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clicktogive/ars/home
(This site tries to sell a lot of products to benefit shelters and other groups. If you're not interested, just click out of the product.)

I really respect people that foster dogs, however I would never be able to foster myself.
I know myself, and I'd end up with 12 dogs and get booted out of The Villages.
Fosters are Very Special People, they fill a crucial need, and I admire them greatly.

Please contact the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County at 352-793-9117, hsspca.org/adopt or visit their shelter Mon.-Sat. at 994 CR 529A in Lake Panasoffkee. They have a variety of small and large breed dogs and all adoption fees are $125 for a neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, de-wormed dog. During July they also have a reduced adoption fee by $25 so dogs are only $100! e hope your friend finds a great companion soon! Thanks for caring!

when you foster, you have to show up every week with the dog for him to sit in a pen and be shown to people who are looking to adopt.

I'm very happy that you are rescuing a dog from a shelter.

I don't know if you were referring to a specific rescue or not. But not all rescues require their fosters to do what you said in your comment in case someone were interesting in fostering. Florida Dachshund Rescue needs foster families, but do not require you to sit in front of Pet Smart or anywhere else.
