Default Insulin for cats

Our cat has diabetes and requires insulin daily. Can anyone provide information on the best place to purchase pet insulin and syringes?

Our dog has had diabetes for six years. He started out on Vetsulin, which was later taken off the market by the FDA, so now he os Humulin-N. I have found that the best price for generic brand needles is at the Publix's pharmacy. In our case we use 1/2cc 1/2" 30 gauge needles, and get a box of 100 for $17.99. They are not specifically for pets, but this is exactly what our vet provided. Pharmacies that do not carry a "store" or "generic" brand charge easily twice as much. Hope this helps.

We too have a diabetic dog, and I have found that Walmart/Sam's Club have the best price for insulin.
(But I can't imagine giving a twice daily shot to a cat - yours must be saintly!)

Thanks for "the replies, they do help. "Saintly" he is not! Just ask our vet, who just received a nice long scratch from our little sixteen pound "Bear Bear", yesterday. But, he was a wedding present. Beware of furry gifts.

We have been giving our cat insulin for 12 years, he is a saint about it. He will even come when he knows it is time for it. Haven't found anyplace that is a real good deal to get his insulin so far, he is now 18 years old and travels back and forth from NH to the Villages. We also need to find a good pet sitter in the Villages that will administer the shots 2 times a day. Anyone know someone?
