Here's the prelude:
This is true/real world stuff, cut and pasted verbatim! Welcome to where Sandy and I reside in OH!! ![]() Our neighborhood here in OH has a directory we maintain which contains everyone's contact info - name, address, phone #s, and e-mail addresses - in case there would be a reason to disseminate any relevant info to the whole group. The following is a string of e-mails from last evening that starts out with one from a lady, we'll call her Sue Smith, who decided the time had come to voice her concern. She sent this to everyone: ----- Hi everyone! I just felt I needed to send out a little reminder about dog poop!!!! First off let me start by saying, my husband and I are dog loving people with 2 dogs ourselves! That being said, my husband wasn't very happy about stepping in another dogs poop at the bottom of our yard close to the street while mowing the yard yesterday. We know it isn't our dogs because we have an electric fence and they can't get down there ![]() Your courteous neighbor, Sue Smith 9999 Bailey Ct! ----- Fair enough, I reckon. But it's obvious she's not real happy. Here's a reply to Sue (and everyone else as well) from a neighbor who owns a vacant/yet-to-build parcel: ----- we don't have a house on our property. the search for the poopers goes on..... ----- Funny! Here's the next 'Reply All': ----- Sue - we have had a small dog (I know what dog poop looks like) poop right on top of the large rock by our mailbox at times. This has me scratching my head as how on earth could a small dog get his tiny butt up high enough to evacuate so purposefully on top of that rock?? The rock is not large enough for a dog to stand on the rock and hit the rock with his bm unless the dog is some sort of contortionist. I am sorry about your poop issue as it is irritating. Can anyone solve our puzzle here? I do not think a raccoon or any animal could have aimed and fired so succinctly. We have also seen near misses. By the way, was yours a large, medium or small job? Beth Jones The House with the Target Practice Rock by the Mailbox Sorry- I am just tired of it too. ----- By now, I had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard!! Another "Reply All": ----- Sue I have 2 large dogs that poop (a lot) in my yard, so I understand and sympathize with your concerns. I don't believe that my dogs are able to escape our electric fence but want to help solve this mystery, I would like to compare your mystery poop to my dogs'. So could you please supply a photo (with a reference scale: quarter or ruler would work) and maybe a texture description so that I can compare with my dogs. Good Luck with the mystery! At your disposal... Tom "Scooby Doo" Johnson, in the Mystery Van. ----- His closing was a scream!!! Yet another "Reply All". This fellow previously lived in the neighborhood and has since moved out of state. He still owns a vacant/yet-to-build parcel: ----- Sue et al., Although we do have a small dog that is quite the contortionist, I have to believe the distance between her normal resting ground in Mukilteo Washington and Granville Ohio would provide us adequate exemption. That said, we face a similar issue here and have the Mutt Mitt ( www.muttmitt.com ) at the park up the road from us. We have also investigated using this in our development for this purpose. There are various cost options all of which are reasonable. If strategically placed, a few of these dispensers cover quite a bit of ground. It is also quite possible that the offenders' owners are not from the neighborhood. Mary and I used to call it the home show - people wanting to be around the nicer homes and constantly driving up and down, biking, walking their dogs around, and enjoying the neighborhood without actually living there. Not sure if this is indeed the case (see paragraph 1), but just a thought to consider as a station or sign might attempt to address someone not on this distribution. Regardless of the poop, we enjoying hearing the scoop and wish you all well. Best wishes. Joe Jones ----- At least he offered some helpful info! Finally, here's Sue's reply to "Scooby Doo": ----- Well Tom.... I would love to be able to send out a photo of the "pile" but it seemed to get squished in mikes shoes, so the appearance is completely different now! ![]() ![]() ~Sue~ ----- At least Sue seems to have a good sense of humor about it all!! And I'll bet you thought it was only TV that had such issues!!! Hope you got a chuckle out of it - Bill ![]() |

When visiting the Paradise Dog Park, It tickles me that conversation at the park will invariably revert to the texture and color of POOP!!....tee hee
.....I always thought that solving the "Poop Dilemma" would be solved if all dog walks were limited to the dog-walkers OWN yard or community areas, such as post office or rec. centers with the tell-tale "bag of crap" always ready for use! |

I was thinking of setting up a small dedicated area on my lawn for our little buddies, but the deed restrictions prevented me from doing it!

We have a small dog and she uses our CYV yard to do her doooooty. If a person has a hunting dog that's big and needs running exercise often throughout the day--on acreage, not a leash--I think it is really unfair to the dog to keep it cooped up in a small house (worse yet, an apartment), taking it for walks on a leash as its only chance to poop......on OTHER people's property. Many large dog owners really should not have such a big dog that craves an open field in the great outdoors, IMHO. |
