Default Responsible Dog Owners???

I live in front of a cul-de-sac. I ave an office in my front bedroom and everyday I watch multiple dog walkers bring their dogs to the landscaped circles. The dogs do their business and I have never seen one person pick up what their dog deposits. Come on people do the right thing.

I have come to the conclusion that there are 3 types of dog owners. The first type is the responsible dog owner who always picks up after their pet and doesn't let their dog go on other people's lawns. This group is by far the largest group. There is a second group that usually picks up after their pet (especially if they believe someone is watching), but isn't so good at keeping their pets off of other people's lawns. This is not a very large group. The third group seem to think any grassy area is suitable to be their pets bathroom, and feel no need to clean up. They are the ones mostly responsible for the mess at the postal stations and on golf courses. I always assume these are the same people that don't rake bunkers. They are a small group, but can be a source of aggravation beyond there numbers.

If you live on a corner lot, I have observed that EVERY dog owner thinks you have opened a dog park. Don't like it, but have learned to live with it.

Can you not just walk out side and nicely say would you like a doggy poop bag?

If they do this in broad daylight, obviously they have no shame about it.

Amen! I too pick up after my dog, she always waits until she is back from her walk to do her thing....99.9999% of the time. The lawn people made the comment to me that I am one of the FEW who clean it up from their yard also, they appreciate it!

I propose the following solution to the raging dog poop problem. The next time you witness a dog owner and dog, and the dog poops, and the owner walks away from it, just drop your squeamishness, walk over, pick up the poop, and throw it at the owner as hard as you can. Would that help?

OK, maybe not.

Seems we have been down this poop trail before!! My thought is if a dog owner won't pick up from their own yard, they probably won't pick up from a cul-de-sac green area. We didn't retiree to be "dog poop policemen"----most of us want to get along. Personally, I will draw the line when I see a dog poop in my yard and the owner doesn't pick it up.
