I can still close my eyes and remember my golden retriever, Jenny, right before I had to let her go...then there was my son's dog, Twister....they just burrow into your heart....so sorry for your loss...but know you gave your dog a wonderful life...and hopefully, one day you'll welcome another needy animal a good home....there are so many....

I'm sure she left sweet paw prints on your heart. Here is a verse that I hope is comforting to you.

A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please me.

Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life
with the love she has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor her
by sharing those memories with others.

Let her remember me as well
and let her know that I will always love her.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow her to accompany those
who will bring me home.

Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of her companionship
and for the time we've had together.

And thank you, Lord,
for granting me the strength
to give her to you now.

Amen.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We just had to put both of our dogs down before we came to the Villages. Keno was a Lab, Malamute, Australian Shepherd mix who weighed 128 lbs. He was 16 years old. Yazzie was a Boxer, Blue Heeler and lab mix. She was 12 years. They are your life and your children. We will pray for you.

So sorry. The decision of when is never an easy one. She was so fortunate to have found your love and devotion. Hugs to you both.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and kind words. Daisy had a very good long life and she brought much joy to our entire family. It seems so quite here today even though she was a quite little dog anyway. I apologize to everyone as I seemed to post this twice last night in the middle of the night as I couldn't sleep. I know many of you have felt this loss as well. If you have a pet, give them a hug from me today. Again, thanks you all.

We've lost a 20-year-old cat and a 13-year-old golden. We've lost many pets down through the years, but these losses hurt the most. They take a piece of you with them. I really feel for you.

Our house will never be without a pet. I hope you find room for another friend some day. In the meantime, praying for healing for you.
