Default South Lake Animal League - Senior Citizen Discounts

SENIORS GET DISCOUNTS: Just wanted to let you know that if you adopt a pet from South Lake Animal League being a Senior gets you a discount. From personal experience, we adopted a dog about 7 years old so we got a discount. And my spouse is 65 or over, so we got another discount on top of that. The adoption fee was very reasonable. Our dog was microchipped and had all shots. This place was incredible. The people are amazing and caring. They have dogs and cats. Cats are in a different building. They also have some really great programs. Here is the main website. You can browse from there. slal.org

I met Doreen and am now a mom to a beautiful blue eyed little kitty from SLAL. Forgive my original post about the folks at SLAL. It was my error not theirs. As anyone can tell you, when looking for a new furry kid it can get confusing as you respond to many different venues for adoption. This was the case with me. Helping Hands Rescue is the organization that will not accept applications the day before an adoption event. What a shame. If you are looking to adopt, do yourself a favor - go to South Lake Animal League FIRST. The care and compassion these kitties and doggies receive while they are waiting for forever homes is THE BEST!! Stay tuned for photos of Hope Louise in her new Villages home!

jukerocks,

I adopted from them and found them wonderful. Everyone was pleasant and helpful even though they were extremely busy when we were there. Sounds like some miscommunication. Remember that most of the people are volunteers. Did you ask to speak to the person in charge to get clarification? I can't say enough good things about my experience with them. And remember no matter what organization or business you deal with there is a chance you will get someone who is having a bad day or give you incorrect information. I would call them and ask for clarification on what you were told.

I sent them a message with your concerns. Hopefully, we can get some clarification. I can only guess at what the situation was.

jukerocks, Please contact SLAL President, Doreen Barker and explain what you said happened. Apparently there was some miscommunication, as they do not have cut off times. This was very confusing to them and they want to fix it.

Here is their phone number: (352) 429-6334
