For those of you who want to know how your dog's food ranks - check out Dog Food Reviews and Ratings | Dog Food Advisor. It gives a rating of their food. And, if you sign up with them for their alerts you'll get their newsletters. Good idea as so many of our dog foods are recalled for many reasons...

We feed our Doberman, Colby, Acana. It is a premium dog food, but well worth it. We used to show Dobermans and at one time had 3 that we fed a raw diet. That was well before all the commercial raw diets were available and it was very expensive and time consuming. The dogs absolutely thrived on it, glistening coats, no tartar on teeth, etc. Had to give it up when I couldn't get fresh chicken/rabbits from the farm.

Acana is grain-free. Colby has no dandruff, and a very soft shiny coat. He does get treats now and then. I do have to pay attention to his teeth and go after any tartar with a dental scrapper before it gets bad. I don't want my dog to have to undergo risky anesthesia for a dental cleaning. My vet always marvels that I can get my dog to lay his head in my lap let me scrape his teeth!
