Past AALL Annual Meeting Locations (https://www.aallnet.org/conference/more/past-meetings/am-locations-past.html)

I was a pest for these starting in Reno, Nevada in 1989 and going up through the one in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1996. Decided it was a waste of money sending all those snail mail letters out after 1996 to people who were going to go to these conventions. Trying to get them to actually just look at the letters I had received from lawyers, victim/witness assistance providers, Attorney Generals from various States, various association leaders, and many others.

All part of my 224 613 Project. I had been trying to get the help of CEOs, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, movie stars, movie directors, movie studio heads, soap opera stars, soap opera writers, advertisers, etc. to spotlight the problem that these received letters showed.

Note I have been pushing this Directory since 2007 on TOTV. A Fort Myers Rape Crisis Center group had told me about it and their desire to see it in libraries. So I started writing all the public and law libraries in FL for them to get a link to the Florida Victim Services Directory.

Gary Corsair, a former Villages Daily Sun reporter, had done a Memorial Day 2007 article on me about my efforts to get the Florida Victim Services Directory connected to the Lake, Marion, and Sumter County Library Systems.

This was a response to my many e-mails to US State Attorney General Offices about the Florida Victim Services Directory. Came by letter. Unfortunately I do not have that many copies of e-mails that I sent to these government officials as I had sent so many of them back in the period from 1999-2006 and had also tried to share this with authorities in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and some other countries. :BigApplause:

This is also when I would have been volunteering at the Palm Harbor and probably the East Lake Community Library for about 10-14 hours per week. Both of these libraries were under the thumb of Gene Coppola. Coppola wanted 50% of my Project within 5 minutes or so of when I first met him around July of 2000. I said "No"! and that kind of ended what was never going to be much of a friendship. He started out our interview with "I do not like liars and whiners" and promptly proofed that is what he is. I still tried to get along with this jerk.

Had shown this to the woman at the University of California, San Francisco Health Sciences Campus Myra Young who was my researcher/interviewer in the 17 week study on stress of the unemployed in late 1992-1993 along with dozens of other letters. I had also sent them some of these items of communication to UCSF Health Sciences Campus. I was subject #613 and have been using that number along with 224 in hundreds of thousands of e-mails, snail mails, Findlaw posts, Facebook posts, some twitters, some telephone calls, some conference calls, interviews, and other means of spreading the message. This was about empowering survivors/victims of crimes through access to practical information.

26 years of very hard and taxing work.

This is one of the drawings of patients in the intensive care wing of the Veterans' Hospital in Reno, Nevada I did around 1978.

I tried ink rather my regular pencil with a different look. He wanted something more traditional like my other sketches of these patients. So, he gave this back to me and I did a new one which he did like.

This was a Vietnam War veteran who got in a stupid accident by imitating a walrus with a pool stick in his nose. Some ******* bumped him and the point of the stick went up into his brain. He did have some problems doing stuff. Mostly I read letters to these patients, played games, spoon fed those who were too far gone to feed themselves, etc. Helped the nurses any way I could. I would often just watch the patients to see if they needed anything when we were in the main community room and call the nurses if they were needed.

The psychiatric wing was across the hall from intensive care but you needed clearance to get into that wing like a pass card.

The State of Nevada Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education (WICHE) had a hearing that covered my Stipend Grant for the money they gave me to attend the quite expensive "Harvard of the West" University of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management. I graduated with a MA in May of 1984. This was in September 2000 and they found that my work for survivors/victims of crimes from MN, IL, CA, and FL would count formy professional work in librarianship in the State of Nevada. Ron Sparks, II was my contact at WICHE.

I probably sent them copies of letters like this one and many many other documents in my 224 613 Project.

I sent many of these same letters to the ObamaCare people in 2014 in KY because I could not afford the payments they required for Health Insurance. All I got from the ObamaCare people was a bureaucratic run around. I could have been talking to them from Mars for all the empathy they showed my situation.

Bureaucrats and simple-minded people who sees things in black-and-white have been a huge problem with my 224 613 Project. Artists, actors, musicians, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, teachers, nurses and others have helped me out quite a bit more of these 26 years.

I have a MA in Librarianship and Information Management from the U of Denver awarded in May of 1984. And prior to that I had had been at the BYU Law School on a Merit Scholarship. I was only there about ten days in 1982.

What do you think would have happened say if Donald John Trump had gotten a hold of the letter from the Honorable Senator Joe Biden above? I sat on it until a few years ago. Mainly because I do not trust the advocate-in-chief Donald John Trump of the ridiculous birther movement to stick to the facts and do right by the people involved. And Obama would have also had a contact to the blacklist on me from the Law Librarianship profession through the University of Chicago where the woman who told me I would not work in law librarianship again was now (around 1992-1993 and afterwards) working at the University of Chicago Law Library? I doubt if Obama though had much of any contact with this law librarian and doubt if the WESTLAW cataloger ever came up.

I have had to wait until Joe Biden was no longer Vice President of the US though to really try to bring this to light. All of this is very much involved with politics in the United States.

And I was thinking seriously of voting for Romney/Ryan up to when President Barack Obama got his grove back with the handling the Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. I have never liked Biden since getting that letter above. Things would have been much different for survivors/victims of crimes if Chairman of the Judiciary Committee Joe Biden in the Fall of 1991 had stepped up to the plate. Senator Orrin Hatch eventually did a few years after this.

I had an invitation to a radio talk show put out by a Chicago lawyer back around this time but was not sure I could handle all the baggage I carry and stay unemotional. I can do it when helping people in a law library, public library and certainly online or representing prisoners or supervising law students work aiding inmates or former inmates. Also I need people to actually see the documents I talk about as even though I received them still have a hard time believing that they are real.

I thank MDLNB for showing some decency. I have a pretty good idea as does pretty much any regular on the Political Forum who the bullies are on here. In 2017 and before that in 2016 I had been trying to share many of these letters on Facebook with these same kinds of groups of people. Especially like trying to reach people going to the Winter and Summer Olympics. No telling what people might be talking about if you bring up a very interesting story. My first sister-in-law is a native Brazilian. The daughter of a US foreign embassy worker in Brazilia who is fluent in Spanish, French, English and Portuguese and worked for AT&T in Reno, Nevada. My competition often in some of my humanities courses at the University of Nevada, Reno.

I was a pest for these starting in Reno, Nevada in 1989 and going up through the one in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1996. Decided it was a waste of money sending all those snail mail letters out after 1996 to people who were going to go to these conventions. Trying to get them to actually just look at the letters I had received from lawyers, victim/witness assistance providers, Attorney Generals from various States, various association leaders, and many others.

All part of my 224 613 Project. I had been trying to get the help of CEOs, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, movie stars, movie directors, movie studio heads, soap opera stars, soap opera writers, advertisers, etc. to spotlight the problem that these received letters showed.

Our dog Amber whom I used to walk around the movie production trailers at the Red Lion Inn in Rohnert Park, CA hoping to visit with some of these movie people who were filming movies in Santa Rosa, Bodega Bay and points north. My parents lived 300 feet from where these movie production trailers were from 1986-1996. I visited while not at the U of MN Law School/Library or after I had to return home in November of 1991 after spending my savings on getting out about 500 letter to US State Governors, US Senators, US Representatives, Association leaders, Members of the US Supreme Court, Law School Deans, and many others. I did get maybe 60 responses. The start of what would become my 224 613 Project is in those sent and received letters including one from the Law Librarian of Congress, M. Kathleen Price.

What do you think I wanted to talk to these movie production people about? Avoiding the duck and goose poop on the golf course was one of these but the other was simply my life story dating from 2-25-1976. And there are very creative means of getting a story around.

Movie people do have e-mail addresses and Facebook pages now too.

One of the responses I received from US Representatives in Congress back in 1991 when I was complaining about attitudes I found at the U of MN Law Library and School about respect for survivors/victims of crimes and those who wanted to help them.

The most disappointing response I got was from the then Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee that Cheshire Cat Senator Joe Biden.

There are many more of course. 26 years generates quite a lot of paper work even if most of this work would have been in hundreds of thousands of e-mails and posts on Findlaw's various message boards from 2002 through 2006. Lots of these e-mails were using the AOL Government Guide. Services (http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/accessamerica/docs/governmentguide.html) And many e-mails went to shows in the major networks including FOX, ABC, NBC, and CBS. News anchors, writers, lawyers, victim/witness assistance providers, librarians, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. I especially liked writing e-mails to College and University newspapers. Some of these still resurface every once in a while. One to Brandeis University's The Justice in 2003 re-emerged around 2011 and was up for a year or more and one to Villanova U is still around even though I sent it around 2003.

The 224 613 Project is my effort based on my experiences dealing with the Michelle Mitchell 2-24-1976 murder in Reno, Nevada to get practical materials for survivors/victims of crimes into or accessible through libraries of all kinds. 613 is my number in a 17 week study on stress on the unemployed conducted by the University of California, SF Health Sciences campus in late 1992-1993. I had used these two numbers 224 and 613 from late 1992 onward to create an international dialog-- which is still going on-- about the practical needs of survivors of crimes. I am using contacts made over the last 41 years starting in Reno, Nevada to do this. Part of these contacts come from the institutions where in earned four degrees and had started work on getting two others. 2-24 is also my birthday.

The people I have tried to get involved include movie directors, news anchors, movie stars, victim/witness assistance providers, CEOs, politicians, writers, psychiatrists, social workers, physicians, nurses, Presidents, Vice-Presidents, First Ladies, lawyers, publishers, the FBI, Interpol, librarians, etc.

One of the responses I received from US Representatives in Congress back in 1991 when I was complaining about attitudes I found at the U of MN Law Library and School about respect for survivors/victims of crimes and those who wanted to help them.

The most disappointing response I got was from the then Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee that Cheshire Cat Senator Joe Biden.

Remember that this is about basically the attitudes in the legal profession towards people with very real experiences with the legal system and its handling of survivors/victims of crimes. The Florida Victim Services Directory for instance. I had been pushing that starting in 1999 when a Ft. Myers Rape Counseling Center employee or volunteer responded to my e-mail to them about what they would like to see in public and law libraries for survivors/victims of crimes. I wrote 4000 of these organizations from 1992 through 2002 about what they would like to see in libraries for survivors/victims of crimes. An incredible amount of very stressful work on my and my family's part.

The important thing I was trying to do was to create an on-going dialog between victim/witness assistance providers and librarians in all kinds of libraries. This was and is an international effort.

An important consideration is how easily can a victim/survivor with no law or librarianship training find information by himself or herself and not leave tracks that someone they might need protection with can locate on their sometimes shared computer. A lot of my work has been aimed at domestic violence and preventing that.

I was a pest for these starting in Reno, Nevada in 1989 and going up through the one in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1996. Decided it was a waste of money sending all those snail mail letters out after 1996 to people who were going to go to these conventions. Trying to get them to actually just look at the letters I had received from lawyers, victim/witness assistance providers, Attorney Generals from various States, various association leaders, and many others.

All part of my 224 613 Project. I had been trying to get the help of CEOs, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, movie stars, movie directors, movie studio heads, soap opera stars, soap opera writers, advertisers, etc. to spotlight the problem that these received letters showed.

Was excited to get this letter. It was not from whom I had written in the first place. I had written the Librarian of Congress James H. I had been trying to connect that (or something like it) to libraries in the 2000s. Victim Services Directory (http://myfloridalegal.com/directory) Had a lot of success with it too. It is far from re-inventing the wheel. And you are probably missing a lot of stuff just using Google. People are the major sources for aid much of the time.

And there are people -- I know some of them-- who do not use the Internet all that much.

Go to a large public law library and see what that law library might have for survivors/victims of crimes which you cannot find readily through a Google Search. I as a librarian do not see Google as being an adequate replacement for someone who knows the community and the people in it who can help a survivor/victim of crime. This will be different in the Villages from Topeka, Kansas to Gainesville, FL to Bushnell, FL to Ocala to St. Paul, MN to Juneau, Alaska.

Crime victims and survivors also readily change with technology as do what is available to them. Facebook and other social media, for instance, offer new ways of helping survivors/victims of crimes. But also create methods that criminals can make new victims/survivors.

For instance, I have had harassers and stalkers on TOTV who make me have to come up with new ways of getting through this kind of contemptible behavior. There are even now laws against cyber harassers and stalkers. I had stalkers/harassers when I was on Findlaw from 2002 through around 2006 as well as tried and succeeded with holding these people accountable in some way or changing the way Findlaw operated.

I also believe in libraries as social hubs for communities. Their having an active role in helping survivors/victims of crimes may make more people report certain kinds of often under-reported crimes and also de-stigmatize mental illness which is also a contributing factor in the creation and the targets of crimes as well. Those seen as different-- like incessantly calling someone a wackadoodle on community message boards-- are more likely than not to be victims/survivors of crimes. I have been involved with many different crimes as a survivor/victim or even as a student lawyer for defendants in these cases. And I did see what the survivor/victim was going through in these.

What is in your library? Remember that people who have not reported crimes yet do not get the help of the government. They get this help after they have reported it or have been forced to report it through various situations like a trip to the Emergency Room and a nurse or doctor asking questions.

I had many encounters like that over the past 26.25 years. And that goes for bureaucrats from local doctors, social workers, librarians, psychiatrists and the like to people at the highest levels of government who sometimes work more for their party and their own interests than those of survivors/victims of crimes especially true if these people are not huge donors to the political parties involved.

And lawyers often do not work in your interest but in the interest of how much a case can get or not get. I contacted many lawyers for instance who would not take various cases I had because of $$$$$ or the matter was just too big to do anything about. You cannot fight City Hall but you sure can make a lot of money if you know the players in City Hall and socialize and golf with them.

I had sent a few e-mails about my experiences with the legal system to the Sumter County Clerk of Court when I was Summoned for Jury Duty back in April of 2014 and showed up for Jury Duty around May 19, 2014.

The Judge dismissed us as the defendant had been talked into accepting a guilty plea and saving according to this Judge a 16 week trial. I probably would have been booted as soon as I started talking about ,y experiences with law librarians and it is very hard for me not to get emotional when telling these facts.

In 2009, at the Federal Court in Ocala for Jury Duty, the Judge has challenged me because he seemed to think I was not giving the truth and everything but the truth in my responses to questions. How can anyone put a lifetime of experiences into a pithy sentence?

Had a visit to a local library this afternoon. This was Friday 6/09/2017. I hope some of the local librarians follow this thread. I may e-mail some of them about it. I used to e-mail librarians all over Florida from 1999 through 2005 or so before we moved to the Villages in 2005 from Palm Harbor, Florida. I had volunteered at two Palm Harbor public Libraries from 2000 through 2003. These were under the control of Gene Coppola. I had actually liked a few of the librarians at Tarpon Springs Library and Oldsmar Library quite a bit more than Gene Coppola. I volunteered about 10-14 hours per week at these two Palm Harbor public libraries among maybe 200 other volunteers and told them various stories about the Twin Cities, Reno, Scottsdale, San Francisco, etc.

People can do me a favor and check what is in your public library for survivors/victims of crimes? Put yourself in the shoes of a survivor/victim of crime and look for what you might need if you were in that situation. That's why I like actors/actresses so much and have been inter-acting with them since 1989 or so when my then live-in girlfriend Jennifer V. told me stories about her mother a theater actress. That got me going to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on a regular basis from 1989 through 1991 or so.

I was talking about a private joke I had with a Library Director whom I talked to yesterday about red books and blue books. It comes from a person coming up to the Reference Desk and asking if you have a copy of that red or blue book that I loved so much when I was a kid and can you find it for me? OK. A red or blue book in a library. Kind of hard to locate anything on the color of the cover. Not that many black covered books however.

She was the daughter of my then remedial English teacher Barbara Mitchell at Earl Wooster High School in Reno, Nevada. 2-24 is also my birthday and the Mitchell family gave me and the late John Picollo a small Memorial Scholarship in her name which I used to pay in part for my Freshmen year at the University of Nevada, Reno. Another little twist on this. While at the U of MN Law Library I had worked under M. Kathleen Price the Law Library Director. She became Law Librarian of Congress around 1990 and was in that position until around 1996 or so. There was an CBS new report around July 6, 1996 that the Library of Congress was challenging whistleblowers and people who wanted to improve things on terms of their mental health rather than addressing their concerns. That is what happened to me at the U of MN Law Library in 1991. Rather than addressing the issue I had with respect to needs of survivors/victims of crimes to practical information the Law Library supervisor of mine probably acting on orders first subtly and then not so subtly put my mental health in question for wanting to talk to FUTURE law library employers about a glaring niche I had found in the delivery system of practical information for victims/survivors of crimes.

I am not saying I have any evidence that M. Kathleen Price was advising this law library supervisor of mine about putting my mental health in question. I was not privy to that information.

I did complain to the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1991 about this-- Senator Joe Biden. Who wrote back that they do not get involved with matters involving only one person. Many US State governors responded unlike this letter from Senator Joe Biden. As did some other US Senators, US Representatives, the Speaker of the House for the State of MN, and others.

So, I have never been much of a fan of that Cheshire Cat Joe Biden. If he had taken a stand in 1991 things would have been a lot different for survivors/victims of crimes in the 1990s as attitudes of law professors towards survivors/victims of crimes rub off on their law students who might become politicians, judges, CEOs, journalists, comedians, and many other professionals.

Things did seem to start changing especially after an interview I had at the Library at the University of Texas at El Paso in late 2001 where it seemed like someone was pulling strings to get me a good position in a law library again. I never learned who this person or group of people might be. UTEP did settle on someone who had been a practicing lawyer unlike me.

There is a connection to Barack Obama in all this that I had feared that Donald Trump would take advantage of in 2012 but he must not have seen the Justice e-mail I had sent back around 2000 which this student newspaper at Brandeis University had re-published in 2011 and that was up on-and-off until 2013 or so. My immediate supervisor at the U of MN Law School had gone onto the U of Chicago Law School Library. I had called her twice around 1992 or 1993 and she flat out told me that I had been blacklisted from law librarianship and that law librarians were a small group with very long memories. This law library employee probably had some contact with Barack Obama when he was a Law Professor to the U of Chicago but I doubt if the WESTLAW cataloger, Joe Biden and the other stuff ever came up in their probably extremely limited conversations. He was busy trying to launch his political career I would guess.

There is still an e-mail I had sent to Villanova back around 2002-2003 that is still up the last I looked. Again an e-mail to a Student Newspaper. I was e-mailing all of the Student Newspapers back in the 2000-2004 period along with just about every other media which had an e-mail address.

So Trump is right about some things with respect to the political establishment and how arm-in-arm some of them are with the media. There are exceptions though and Trump now seems to have become one of the swamp creatures and I see very little chance of change in the DC Beltway.

Libraries could play a critical role in making citizens less prone to being manipulated by either the media or by established politicians.
