This is about my 26.50 year-- or thereabouts-- 224 613 Project to empower survivors/victims of crimes through access to practical information accessible through or in libraries of all kinds.

500 posts now. Most of these are by me. Granted. But the views are not.
The views are yours as well. Look at the forum version release notes.

Another little twist on this. While at the U of MN Law Library I had worked under M. Kathleen Price the Law Library Director. She became Law Librarian of Congress around 1990 and was in that position until around 1996 or so. There was an CBS new report around July 6, 1996 that the Library of Congress was challenging whistleblowers and people who wanted to improve things on terms of their mental health rather than addressing their concerns. That is what happened to me at the U of MN Law Library in 1991. Rather than addressing the issue I had with respect to needs of survivors/victims of crimes to practical information the Law Library supervisor of mine probably acting on orders first subtly and then not so subtly put my mental health in question for wanting to talk to FUTURE law library employers about a glaring niche I had found in the delivery system of practical information for victims/survivors of crimes.

I am not saying I have any evidence that M. Kathleen Price was advising this law library supervisor of mine about putting my mental health in question. I was not privy to that information.

I did complain to the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1991 about this-- Senator Joe Biden. Who wrote back that they do not get involved with matters involving only one person. Many US State governors responded unlike this letter from Senator Joe Biden. As did some other US Senators, US Representatives, the Speaker of the House for the State of MN, and others.

So, I have never been much of a fan of that Cheshire Cat Joe Biden. If he had taken a stand in 1991 things would have been a lot different for survivors/victims of crimes in the 1990s as attitudes of law professors towards survivors/victims of crimes rub off on their law students who might become politicians, judges, CEOs, journalists, comedians, and many other professionals.

Things did seem to start changing especially after an interview I had at the Library at the University of Texas at El Paso in late 2001 where it seemed like someone was pulling strings to get me a good position in a law library again. I never learned who this person or group of people might be. UTEP did settle on someone who had been a practicing lawyer unlike me.

There is a connection to Barack Obama in all this that I had feared that Donald Trump would take advantage of in 2012 but he must not have seen the Justice e-mail I had sent back around 2000 which this student newspaper at Brandeis University had re-published in 2011 and that was up on-and-off until 2013 or so. My immediate supervisor at the U of MN Law School had gone onto the U of Chicago Law School Library. I had called her twice around 1992 or 1993 and she flat out told me that I had been blacklisted from law librarianship and that law librarians were a small group with very long memories. This law library employee probably had some contact with Barack Obama when he was a Law Professor to the U of Chicago but I doubt if the WESTLAW cataloger, Joe Biden and the other stuff ever came up in their probably extremely limited conversations. He was busy trying to launch his political career I would guess.

There is still an e-mail I had sent to Villanova back around 2002-2003 that is still up the last I looked. Again an e-mail to a Student Newspaper. I was e-mailing all of the Student Newspapers back in the 2000-2004 period along with just about every other media which had an e-mail address.

So Trump is right about some things with respect to the political establishment and how arm-in-arm some of them are with the media. There are exceptions though and Trump now seems to have become one of the swamp creatures and I see very little chance of change in the DC Beltway.

Libraries could play a critical role in making citizens less prone to being manipulated by either the media or by established politicians.

Carol H. Rasco is the woman who was William Jefferson Clinton's Domestic Policies Advisor who responded to my letter to the Health Care Task Force run by Hillary Clinton.

One of the very useful letters back in 1993 that I would have shared with first the University of California, SF Health Science Campus Stress on the Unemployed Study people. I was subject #613 and then with victim/witness assistance providers, psychiatrists, lawyers, librarians, Hollywood studio executives, CEOs, teachers, celebrities, comedians, sports league Commissioners, and many many others.

Past AALL Annual Meeting Locations (https://www.aallnet.org/conference/more/past-meetings/am-locations-past.html)

I was a pest for these starting in Reno, Nevada in 1989 and going up through the one in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1996. Decided it was a waste of money sending all those snail mail letters out after 1996 to people who were going to go to these conventions. Trying to get them to actually just look at the letters I had received from lawyers, victim/witness assistance providers, Attorney Generals from various States, various association leaders, and many others.

All part of my 224 613 Project. I had been trying to get the help of CEOs, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, movie stars, movie directors, movie studio heads, soap opera stars, soap opera writers, advertisers, etc. to spotlight the problem that these received letters showed.

Future Annual Meeting Dates and Locations (https://www.aallnet.org/conference/education/future-meetings/am-locations.html) Will be interesting to see what happens in these future AALL meetings.

These conventions are coming up soon. Both the American Library Association and the American Association of Law Libraries. American Association of Law Libraries - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Association_of_Law_Libraries)

Past AALL Annual Meeting Locations (https://www.aallnet.org/conference/more/past-meetings/am-locations-past.html)

Remember trying to get a victims/survivors of crimes lecture at the AALL Convention in 2001 in Minneapolis at their Summer Convention and I could not find enough speakers for the requirements of the AALL Convention people. I did manage to rope a leader in the Mothers Against Drunken Driving movement. So, I had to throw in the towel but kept looking for jobs in libraries probably up through when we moved to the Villages in 2005. I did manage to anger Gene Coppola in the Summer of 2000 by not accepting his offer that the Palm Harbor Public Library would take 50% of anything he and his staff could help me with in the way of grants for library work. He had started his meeting with me with "I do not like whiners and liars." This was at our very first meeting and almost his first words out of his mouth. I had been volunteering at the Palm Harbor Library when I met Gene Coppola for about a month or so. He had stated about a week prior to this. The Palm Harbor Library Director before Coppola had been forced out for scolding an employee for taking a too long break and generally acting like a pervert watching adult movies in his office with the door open.

Coppola threatened me with a lawsuit in 2004, March 2 to be exact for my writing true e-mails to his staff about them no longer having a link to the Florida Victim Services Directory.

This is all part of my massive 224 613 Project which I started in earnest in January of 1991 after memories had been percolating when I got back from the American Association of Law Libraries convention in Reno, Nevada in July of 1989 where I was introduced as the cataloger of all the computer files on WESTLAW for a national project working in conjunction with the SUNY at Buffalo Law School Library which had a person doing LEXIS. I had been working for the U of MN Law Library from around 1988 through then after having graduated law school in May of 1989.

Victim Services Directory (http://myfloridalegal.com/directory)

Note I have been pushing this Directory since 2007 on TOTV. A Fort Myers Rape Crisis Center group had told me about it and their desire to see it in libraries. So I started writing all the public and law libraries in FL for them to get a link to the Florida Victim Services Directory.

Gary Corsair, a former Villages Daily Sun reporter, had done a Memorial Day 2007 article on me about my efforts to get the Florida Victim Services Directory connected to the Lake, Marion, and Sumter County Library Systems.

The American Library Association Summer convention starts in Chicago, IL today and I hope that many of these librarians there have noticed all the Easter Eggs of sorts that it looks like friends I have made over the last 41 years or so while I have been trying to help survivors/victims of crimes deal with finding practical materials accessible through or in libraries. I had gone into the Washoe County Library in Reno, Nevada to their central branch looking for materials for my fellow Earl Wooster HS students cope with the 2-24-1976 murder investigation in the slaying of our English teacher's daughter Michelle Mitchell. This search began on February 28, 1976 and I have kept at it in various ways over the 41 years since then.

The ending of the Third Season of Fargo last night was quite cool. :) Love the details.

If people cannot see the broader implications of what I am talking about with my 224 613 Project many over the last 26 years have. This has to do with the education of our future lawyers, politicians, judges and other very powerful people and their attitudes towards survivors/victims of crimes. Law librarians are a very small group whose attitudes and traditions impact every aspect of the life of Americans through access to the best information available in many settings.

Everyone should be interested in what is in our local law libraries especially if they are victims/survivors of crimes or have family members or friends who are victims/survivors of crimes.

This is the TOTV Political Forum and trolls who get off on trying to bully other posters should be Ignored as much as possible.

Meryl Streep - Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/meryl_streep/)

This woman is supposedly quite nice according to a fellow Palm Harbor Library volunteer who was a teacher or something like that in the small New England town where Meryl Streep lived or lives(?) with her kids and husband.

People must not forget that this is a small world in many respects. You meet people who have met many other people especially if you volunteer among 200 or so library volunteers from many parts of the US. Too bad that the local public libraries do not seem to have that huge public group of loyal volunteers. The Mark Twain Library is different as it seems like a private library created by volunteers for other volunteers and the Villagers.

I volunteered at the Palm Harbor Library as well as the East Lake Community Library for about 10-14 hours per week from 2000-2003. Met a lot of nice people. The man in charge was kind of a obnoxious New Yorker named Gene Coppola. He was of the NYC Coppolas and of no relation that I know of to the San Francisco Coppolas of The Godfather fame. I have visited with a member of that family on Facebook on-and-off for a while. I mean with the SF based Coppolas.

Had been trying to get a foot in the door to work in a Tampa Bay area library by volunteering but no matter how hard I had tried just could not break out of the volunteer category.

I did pester many librarians about their holdings for survivors/victims of crimes while I lived there in Palm Harbor, FL from 1996-2005 so maybe that had something to do with it.

There is no website. Tal's 'project' is little more than a 26-year long letter writing campaign. His posts on this thread apparently continue to provide some sense of relevance to his life.

His daily ramblings about people he knows, movies he's seen and errands he has run are his attempt to breathe life into a thread that was DOA with his first post.

I recall that Gene Coppola the Director of the Palm Harbor Library the first time I met him around July or August of 2000 demanded a cut of 50% if they got involved with this Project. I said no right away to Coppola as I had just met him and already had nine years of hard work on this Herculean effort. Other library directors in the Tampa Bay area were more friendly especially Lana Bullian who I used to say hi to quite often when she was at Tarpon Springs PL and then when she became Library Director at the Safety Harbor PL.

Ignore the trolls on here. They like to stir doubts and anger just because they can on an unmoderated Political Forum.

Coppola saw something he wanted to steal with my 224 613 Project. And this is intellectual property of sorts. It is very well documented as well.

I was a volunteer at Palm Harbor Library for then about two months when I met Gene Coppola around July or August of 2000. I had a MA in Librarianship and Information Management and then maybe ten years of library related work or volunteer experience. In addition I had a JD and two BAs in Philosophy and History with two semesters of Spanish as well. And some Dutch and German courses too taken after getting these 4 degrees. The Spanish was after I got my MA and while I was working as an Indexer/Abstractor at the Ziff Davis owned Information Access Company.

That's the problem. I had a real life stalker while at the U of MN Law Library. Gail P. And this was for nine months (September 1989- May 1990) or so. My live- in girlfriend got the worst of it. It is not fun. Of course, this world-- the Political Forum-- is what we and the Moderators and Administrators make of it. It is very far from the real world. But FL laws do cover it. The law could not do much about Gail P. either. Then. Eventually they could do quite a lot.

And did the U of MN Law Library have any resources to help me and my live in girlfriend deal with Gail P? Not really. The laws were not all that much there.

The law librarians I met were a much more serious group. A law student at the U of MN tried to make us do a music video to market the library and all of us were mumbling to the music. The regular law students probably found it quite hilarious and would have fit in with the stereotype of Marian the Librarian Library History Timeline / Marian the Librarian (http://libraryhistory.pbworks.com/w/page/16964673/Marian%20the%20Librarian) you still see in various movies like with the recent flick Hidden Figures.

There is no need as there are many web-sites for survivors/victims of crimes out there. It is using them that is the problem. Often they are difficult to use in some way. That's where librarians come in. The whole point of my 26.5 year Project was to create a dialog between a lot of groups about the practical informational needs of survivors/victims. Social workers, physicians, nurses, lawyers, victim/witness assistance providers, journalists, librarians, publishers, writers, victimologists, etc., should be working together with their community to develop these. But the public should be the people whose judgment about the usefulness of these resources would be most sought. What is in your community's library and just how practical do you find it?

There is a clear pattern of harassment of me on here by you and others.

Just because your feelings get hurt with even the slightest provocation, doesn't mean that posts made by me and others meet the legal definition of harassment...even though they obviously do in your mind.

Any feelings of harassment that you MAY experience can easily be avoided by using the 'Ignore' function. But, rather than do that, you choose to call posters (whom you perceive as harassers) "trolls", "creeps" and "********". Is this not harassment? I guess it is only harassment when someone else other than you posts it.

It should be clear to just about anyone that has read your 'massive project' posts that you have some issues that need to be resolved. Your time would probably be better spent trying to resolve those issues than reading posts that seem to upset you so much.

And then there is this.

There are resources like this for victims/survivors. Office for Victims of Crime - U.S. Resource Map of Crime Victim Services & Information (https://www.ovc.gov/map.html) But where do you go from there? Office for Victims of Crime - Resource by State (https://ovc.ncjrs.gov/ResourceByState.aspx?state=fl) And this assumes that you have reported the crime. And that the police will do something about it.

It is about street signs so to speak about community resources. What's in your community's LEO web-site. I have been trying to get local people to look at what is in their libraries for decades with respect to survivors/victims of crimes. This is about empowerment. Kind of akin to the 2nd Amendment but defense through access to practical information. I did try to get the NRA involved with this back in the 1990s by sending various letters and then e-mails to whoever I could find through various association handbooks in local libraries.

Oh the fvcking irony. :1rotfl:

It's patently obvious to most decent members here that you, MOCPD, Blind Allegiance, LargeBug and a few others are emotionally obsessed with Talt, as he lives in your minds rent free...and you have the audacity to talk about him having issues?

Here we have a guy that talks about something that he has a passion for and has spent a lot of personal effort in trying to help others...and all you can do is obsess about it/him?

You poor sick trolls must feel massively insecure about your own selves, to spend so much effort trying to attack him over something...that doesn't affect you dip$hits in the least. :a20:

Gawd, you lowlife, scumsucking, bullying a$$holes really need some serious professional help to go figure out why you feel he is such a threat to you...that you would expend this much effort. :ohdear:

I wonder how this is all going down at the American Library Association convention this weekend???

I started using 613 along with 224 in my efforts to create an international dialog about the practical needs of survivors/victims of crimes by writing victim/witness assistance providers, nursing associations, lawyers, librarians, psychiatrists, physicians, social workers, news anchors, movie stars, writers, dancers, singers, comedians, CEOs, politicians, writers, victimologists and many many others. 224 is my birthday and the day when Michelle Mitchell was murdered in Reno, Nevada. She was the daughter of my then remedial English teacher Barbara Mitchell at Earl Wooster High School. Annual Meeting and Conference (https://www.aallnet.org/conference)

Two weeks or so until American Association of Law Libraries convention in Austin, Texas.

I wonder if Ivanka Trump whom I follow on Facebook has caught on yet to my 224 613 Project and how it kind of challenges the Establishment in many of the same ways as her father? I have had a lot of problems with bureaucrats more interested in strict adherence to the rules rather than their trying to help the people they serve over the last 26 years while fighting for access to practical information for survivors/victims of crimes.

I probably would be having a harder time with this 224 613 Project if Hillary Clinton had been elected but that is all just speculation now. As I have said often on here -- the Republicans have been the people who have helped me the most with this 224 613 Project.

The lady at the Sumter County Government Annex yesterday was wonderful with my mother and her getting her driver's license renewed. She went out of her way to make sure each person coming in was treated with respect and that she could do everything she could to help with all the Forms. Hat's off to how they run that place if this nice and professional woman is representative of that office.

And the library workers were helpful as well at the Sumter County Library there at the North end of the building. I usually use the Lake County Library System but once in a while will visit the Sumter County libraries.

613 posts it looks like on my 224 613 thread about libraries and empowering survivors/victims of crimes through access to practical information available through or in libraries of all kinds. I have been worked at this-- and it is very hard work-- since January 1991 but banking on experiences I had starting with when I learned that my then Earl Wooster High School teacher Mrs. Barbara Mitchell's daughter Michelle Mitchell had been murdered on my birthday of 2-24 in 1976 near the University of Nevada, Reno. I went into the Washoe County library on February 28, 1976 looking for something helpful to aid my fellow Earl Wooster HS students cope with the murder investigation which went on three years. This was for my own dealing with this murder on my birthday as well.

Movies have played an important part in my 224 613 Project since there were two men behind me and my mother at the Petaluma Theater in Northern CA around March 12, 1995 and one of him asked me "Did you see that?" when the number 612 showed up in the scene in Outbreak when a woman's blood was being tested. That really got me interested especially since this movie had been filmed in the area and movie production trailers from it had been about 300 feet out or back door where they had been at the Red Lion Inn in Rohnert Park, CA. Outbreak (1995) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114069/)

This has also given me more ideas about whom to contact using my status as the cataloger of all the computer files on WESTLAW for a national project. I had done that while in the employ of the U of MN Law Library while a woman was doing LEXIS at the SUNY at Buffalo Law School Library.

Such fun too with Facebook to with this where I have been since around 2010 spreading the message.

Part of the binder that they gave me at the University of California, San Francisco Health Sciences Campus in late 1992 when I started in their study on stress on the unemployed. I had four taped interviews with Myra Young and had my blood drawn four times as well. This was about a 1.15 hour drive down from Rohnert Park, CA where we lived bordering the golf course and about 300 feet from the Red Lion Inn which was across the green from us.

Ms. Young looked at the maybe score of letters received I sent each time but waited until the very end of the study after our last interview to tell me that had a very good cause and that she wished me well.

I started using the number 613 in late 1992 in my letters to lawyers, victim/assistance providers, movie studio executives, CEOS but not Donald Trump that I can remember, social workers, victimologists, psychologists, writers, comedians, dancers, musicians, librarians, scholars, law school deans, etc. A great deal of work in fact and extremely stressful. I had been using 224 since early 1991.

I did sent them a few more letters after I had quit the study via snail mail but did not see much point of sending them more after that but have been communicating with many public health programs in various universities since then on Facebook and through other means.

I am still feeling pretty good with the prospects of my massive 26 year 224 613 Project to empower survivors/victims of crimes through access to practical information available through or in libraries of all kinds. Gary Corsair, a Villages Daily Sun reporter, did a story on my efforts connected to the Lake, Sumter and Marion County public libraries which appeared on Memorial Day in 2007. I would often run into his dog Boo Radley along with his wife at one of the local dog parks and she was always friendly. Corsair did a little research on me back on that Memorial Day weekend and wanted to see my records on my work up to then in 2007. I said "No" as I had just met him a few minutes before. He was just walking in my neighborhood looking for a story to write which did get my hackles up.

I have used copies of that Memorial Day 2007 article to try to get people to dialog about the practical needs of survivors/victims of crimes with respect to libraries of all kinds in every state of the United States. And this does involve power of these survivors/victims within the legal system and also out of it.

Many of my real Villages' area friends complemented me on that Memorial Day article. Mr. Corsair got a few of the facts wrong though.

This is very much related to politics though and the policies of the current Senate, House and the US President. Especially related to library funding and how they treat survivors/victims of crimes.

Hear me roar. 1527 views now. I remember that the Law Librarian Congress in 1990-1995 or 1996 M. Kathleen Price had called me a tiger when I started forcing the issue of accessibility of information for survivors/victims of crimes which was based then on my own experiences with the 2-24-1976 murder of Michelle Mitchell and its aftermath dating to 1985. It gets rather complicated from there and I do not have any inside knowledge of what happened after that in DC.

Would a church be a more logical place for survivors/victims of crimes to look for access to practical information about the rights and services available to them. Historically, it seems like religious organization did fulfill that need. Some still do it especially for "unpopular" survivors/victims of crimes.

For anyone who forgot who Michelle Mitchell was she was the daughter of my favorite English teacher Mrs. Barbara Mitchell at Earl Wooster High School in Reno, Nevada in the 1975-1976 academic year. Her father was a teacher at a different high School in Reno. They lived at the other edge of Reno on the far north side. I was on the far south.

John Picollo was another student in the Mitchell English class. He knew her from visits to the Michelle house for some reason.

I was busy taking correspondence courses through a third Reno High School so that I could get through high school in three years.

On 2-24-1976 (my birthday is 2-24) Ms. Michelle Mitchell a 19 year old nursing student was killed in a garage close to the U of Nevada- Reno campus a few doors down where from my older brother lived. He remembered hearing all the sirens and wondering what was going on that night of my birthday.

On Wednesday 2-25-1976 our class got the news that we would be getting a substitute because of the murder of Michelle Mitchell.

John Picollo was one of the people questioned in the murder as were some of the other people who had met Michelle Mitchell.

I had done a drawing of a picture of a woman in a magazine. During my Spring 1976 Art Show at Wooster High School, Mrs. Mitchell had seen that drawing and told me how much it reminded her of her daughter.

She had not returned to work for quite some time but was teaching a few months after the murder of her daughter which would go unsolved until 1979.

The Mitchells gave me and John Picollo the Michelle Mitchell Memorial Scholarship. Maybe $200 a Semester for the 1976-1977 Academic Year. This Scholarship stayed on my resume for decades.

I gave the drawing of the woman who reminded Mrs. Mitchell to the family when I drove to their house across town to thank all of them for the Michelle Mitchell Memorial Scholarship and told them that I was thinking of becoming a doctor.

I started volunteering at the Veteran's Hospital in 1977 through 1978 in Reno, Nevada to see if I enjoyed working around patients. The nurses learned I could draw and soon I was taking home photos of the patients at the intensive care wing to try to capture their likenesses. As soon as these were OKed by the patients the nurses put these drawings outside their rooms and the nurses hired an Art Major from the University of Nevada, Reno to continue these art works after I quit volunteering in 1978 as I had decided that I could not handle the deaths of the patients all that well. And I had trouble with some of the chemistry and calculus.

Started studying Philosophy and History instead with an eye to maybe going to law school if my grades were good enough.

I stayed in contact of sorts with the Mitchells through letters and by meeting Wooster students at the University of Nevada, Reno or through my younger brother who also had Mrs. Barbara Mitchell for English about four years after me.

One of the prosecutors of the woman eventually seen as the murderer of Michelle Mitchell, Cathy Woods, was a bridge partner of my parents, Mills Lane. I would get phone calls from Mills Lane too in my 224 613 Project with respect to strategy. These probably went on until 1996 or so.

It turned out that Cathy Woods had been railroaded by cops and prosecutors looking to get closure for the people involved. Woods was a paranoid schizophrenic who had confessed falsely to the murder of Michelle Mitchell to get a better room in a prison in Louisiana. It looks like she was fed inside information to make the prosecution easier. That's just going on the press coming out in 2014-2016.

I knew Mrs. Barbara Mitchell quite well. And no I never met Michelle Mitchell. I did meet the rest of her immediate family.

I talked about the trials, appeals, etc of Cathy Woods and people supposedly connected to her with students from Wooster High School whom I would run into all over Reno, Sparks.

My parents moved from Reno, Nevada in 1984 to Scottsdale, AZ but my late younger brother stayed there until 1990 or so.

I have family still in Reno, Nevada and went to Reno, Nevada about six weeks after graduating from the U of MN Law School where Gail Daly introduced me to the American Association of Law Libraries Summer Convention people as the cataloger of all the computer files on WESTLAW for a national project working in conjunction with SUNY at Buffalo where they were doing the LEXIS cataloging.

Please ignore the trolls on here. They are harassers and bullies of the worst sort.

The most important consideration though is what is in your library? How easy is it to get to materials that will help survivors/victims of crimes? And this will vary a great deal from library system to library system. Google is great in certain situations in others you will need a person to help you get through all the materials that might be involved.

These harassers and stalkers are pests on here but not as bad as that two faced person I was trying to help on Findlaw from 2002-2006 who was nice with his regular avatar name and vicious with hundreds of other avatars. That guy was from Chesterfield County, VA and I did talk with the police in Pinellas County as well as Chesterfield County, VA about him and when that did not get any results I started writing my Congressmen about getting the law changed so that trolls like him did not prosper because the law had not caught up with the technology. Have not seen that person anywhere on the Internet since 2008.

And I think any lawyer jumps at the chance of a case where $$$ might be involved no matter what the law-- precedents and statutes in that jurisdiction and above are.

What's in your library for survivors/victims of crimes?

I had also requested Programs for the American Library Association meetings for years and wrote many of the presenters there about my concerns about practical information for survivors/victims of crimes within these libraries.

However, I only actually went to one of these in Dallas, Texas in 1984 with a group of MA library graduates and we stayed at the Texas Women's University just outside of Dallas in Denton.

Ignore the cyber harassers on here. Just speaks to how hard this has been taking on the powers that be to get practical materials for survivors/victims of crimes. Remember that I have been at this since February 28, 1976 when I went into the downtown Washoe County public library to look for materials to help me and my fellow Earl Wooster High School students cope with the 2-24 murder investigation in the slaying of our English teacher Mrs. Barbara Mitchell's daughter Michelle Mitchell near the University of Nevada, Reno campus. 2-24 is my birthday. This case is in the news as there is a trial in August of 2017 of the person of interest -- Rodney Halbower-- in the killings of two girls on the SF Peninsula. This man is linked through DNA to the murder of Michelle Mitchell.

I worked under M. Kathleen Price who became Law Librarian of Congress around 1990-1995 and I was the person responsible for cataloging all the computer files on WESTLAW for a national project working with the SUNY at Buffalo Law Library. I was working at the U of MN Law Library one of the largest law libraries in the world. Got my JD in 1989 and prior to that earned two BAs at the University of Nevada, Reno and a MA from the U of Denver in Librarianship and Information Management. 4 degrees is an incredible amount of work and $$$.

This story involves some of the most powerful law librarians in world and many Members of Congress.

Ignore the cyber bullies. But people like Allegiance also demonstrate the need for better laws about harassment on the Internet. Stalking online like this man has done for months should never be the expected no allowed. I had to post my American Associations of Law Libraries Conventions thread in Political as I knew it would eventually come under attack by people who do not want the facts to come out about this 224 613 Project. Or they would want to manipulate them to a great extent. This person Allegiance is just a sociopath who kicks people he sees as down and out online. A cyber bully. Doing this is also a crime under Florida law but he persists with the law breaking. I am surprised though the the Moderator has not booted him off for repeated calls of fouls against me on the Regular Board.

This is a very successful 224 613 Project. The numbers of views on my Photobucket Array as well on here Talk of the Villages Political Forum show that. And I really seem to have gotten the help of Hollywood, Wall Street, Broadway and elsewhere with it. And strangely it is also something Donald John Trump would probably like as Republicans have been the most helpful over the past 26.5 years with it. But the problem is I need people who dig into the facts looking for what actually happened and why. And Trump seems to do just the opposite. It is all about Trump's ego and winning at any cost. And Trump is not really even a Republican. He is a Trumpian. Whatever suits this man's ego and personal needs at the time.

Ignore the Trump Trolls on here. Trump did show some promise and standing up to the powers that be but he is just becoming something worse. The threat of violence against reporters for trying to get at the facts as well as disrespecting the FBI and intelligence communities. This was just yesterday 7/02/2017 that he twitted this about CNN and violence against then. A President should never post something so reckless given the nature of many Trump Trolls.

8163 views now as of Monday 7:54 AM 7/03/2017 EST. And I hope that people will complain about any kind of trolling Allegiance does on the Regular Board of Talk of the Villages. This kind of harassment and bullying should NEVER be allowed on any moderated board.

I have actually found Republican politicians have been more helpful with my 224 613 Project than their Democratic counterparts but there have been many exceptions like with Hillary Clinton and her Health Care Task Force.

I would have definitely shown this letter to Ms. Myra Young my interviewer/researcher at the University of California, San Francisco Health Sciences Campus in 17 weeks as subject #613 in a study on stress on the unemployed. This study was in 17 weeks starting late December through March of 1993.

I would have used this letter and many like to to gain international support for my 224 613 Project by copying these, reducing them in size, and then recopying them and sending them to news anchors, writers, comedians, musicians, dancers, movie studio executives, movie stars, lawyers, librarians, victim/witness assistance providers, scholars, law professors, law school deans, and anyone else I could think of who might be in a position to help.

2172 views now of this thread related to law librarians.

And 23, 147 views at my other place which is a lot more restricted.

From "Re: Resource for finding support for those with mental illness"

Old 03-06-2008, 06:35 PM

Had some of my own experiences with depression brought on from my lack of finding employment in law or any other kind of librarianship due to my (1991 +) obsession with victims' rights information in libraries or accessible through libraries.

So, I do know a little but not very much about mental illness.

These local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) groups seem to be very helpful though. Have contacted some of them from time to time trying to get them to help with getting practical information into libraries for crime victims as I am sure they get depressed too as would anyone who feels like he or she has little control over various events in his or her life.

For example, one Tennessee man in the military back on Findlaw's message boards in late 2003 was trying to get help for his former 20 year old or so girlfriend who had seen her mother get murdered when she was 6 or so. She was having serious mental health problems and had been picked up by the local (KY?) police but the cops let her go for some reason after only a few hours even though she was wandering around late one cold night with very little clothing on and had various scars on her arms from suicide attempts.

The Findlaw message board ex-boyfriend was looking for guidance on what he could do to help his friend.

Unfortunately, the young woman drove her car into oncoming traffic around New Year's Eve 2003 and died from her injuries not too soon afterwards.

Do think that groups like NAMI Microsoft Azure Web App - Error 404 (http://www.nami.org/Template.cfm?section=Find_Support) could have helped this man and his ex-girlfriend.

Hope that what I post on TOTV can help people too who are looking for useful information in the Support Group section.

Back to my first post on this thread. I made this on-- 04-16-2017, 04:57 PM. 682 posts later. Most of these are mine with quite a lot also by cyber harassers of all political persuasions. It has been the Republicans since 1991 who have helped me more with this than the Democrats because this is about putting limits on government through access to the best practical information. Mainly for survivors/victims of crimes. Ordinary people armed with intelligence. And digging for information while thinking critically about what they find. A tough thing to do in the land of Donald John Trump.

This should help though--

Noticed that I wrote an e-mail to maybe 150+ librarians (law and public), victim/witness assistance providers, politicians, law professors, and others about the Florida Victim Services Directory and getting something like it in their states or if their state had it making sure it is linked from their law and other libraries. This was on 7/27/2000 at 7:03:06 PM EST.

Victim Services Directory (http://myfloridalegal.com/directory)

I had talked to someone at the FL Attorney General's Office about how current the Directory was kept and how best to access it. The paper copy that they had in 2000 was too hard to keep up to date.

What's in your library?

I had been sending out many e-mails in the 2000s. Some of these were quite strange, admittedly, but many of them were not. And many of these went to a few hundred people at once.

These e-mails were going to law and public librarians in the largest law and public libraries in the United States as well as various local librarians in the Tampa Bay area.

I did have various writers and/or celebrities on my list of correspondents as well for years. A few of those are still house hold names.

The big question is do any of these bigwigs I contacted about improving materials of a practical nature in libraries of all kinds for survivors/victims of crimes notice the things I have been rather keenly aware over the past few years? I had started writing people in 1991 about a niche in this area and have not let up on trying to do something about this niche and they have sometimes done things. But what is useful in the Villages might not be so useful in the backwoods of Alaska. And NYC would have many more avenues through which to get help say compared to Bushnell, FL.

Local people need to assess what is in their local law, public, medical, and school libraries for survivors/victims of crimes.

There are also those government web-sites where you write in the message that you want them perhaps to read like one I sent to the Alabama Attorney General about the Florida Victim Services Directory on July 28, 2000.

It basically just said that I had mentioned to get the Florida Victim Services Directory connected to 10 Florida library web-sites.

History of Information Access Company – FundingUniverse (http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/information-access-company-history/)

Where I worked from 1984-1986.

Almost anyone who used a public library or a college/university library would be familiar with the various products of Information Access Company.

I worked under a very nice man named Robert Lee in the Area Business Databank Group where we indexed and abstracted regional business magazines as well as general newspapers and other magazines.

I raided the Legal Resource Index Group's refuse pile for items about Victimology and Law Reviews on articles on survivors/victims of crimes materials. I wound up writing all the scholars in one of these volumes around the world about my ideas about practical information for survivors/victims of crimes. Received many very honest answers.

I do not know what happened with magazines like The Sporting News Sporting News - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sporting_News) and those issues when we no longer needed them for indexing. I suppose they went home with the managers who had been there the longest.

I probably did index and abstract some NY based business magazines about the real estate developments of Donald John Trump. Donald Trump - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump)

I sure sent out a lot of e-mails back in the early 2000s. And many of these went to Australia, Germany, France, Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Turkey, Hungary, Canada and various other countries as well as the US. None to USSR nor Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria but many to Israel.

Most sent out of the US would have gone to Great Britain and Canada though then Mexico.

However, I only actually went to one of these in Dallas, Texas in 1984 with a group of MA library graduates and we stayed at the Texas Women's University just outside of Dallas in Denton.

Been watching a DVD of Their Finest and love that door scene near the beginning of the movie. Their Finest (2017) - Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/their_finest_2017/)

What to do? What to do?

I just hope those librarians at the law library convention in Austin, Texas starting July 15, 2017 watch a lot of movies and recall those hundreds of thousands of e-mails-- some admittedly quite bizarre-- I sent out in 1999 through 2005. Annual Meeting and Conference (https://www.aallnet.org/conference)

Some Student University newspapers have republished these e-mails sent to them by me at odd times like the one floating around right now from Villanova and the one from Brandeis that showed up quite a bit from 2011 through 2013.

I had written colleges and university newspapers in every state in 2002 and 2003 via e-mails sent from Palm Harbor, FL.

I want to say that no one from Hollywood or elsewhere has ever told me what they are doing with all those 224s and 613s in movies, ads, and other places I have noticed since 1995's Dustin Hoffman/Rene Russo Outbreak. But I have been asking for the help of Hollywood since late 1991 with all this work. And it is work.

A reminder of some of the hurdles I have had.

I have been looking at my various 1999 e-mails some of which went to the President of the American Library Association back then whom I knew from the University of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management. She was getting some kind of advanced training while I was getting my MA. Graduated in 1984 but was still busy working I believe so I did not leave for Reno until a month or so after Graduation. Also e-mails in 1999 to the Alaska Attorney General talking about a letter I had received from the service director or something like that for the New York City Victim Services Division.

If you do not like the discussions in the political forum you should unsubscribe and remove yourself from them. 2) Your disagreements and tone from the political forum should NOT carry over into the main moderated forums. Infractions and user account suspensions will be issued if this is necessary to maintain the integrity of the TOTV website non political forums. 3) If you do not like the discussions or interactions with any specific user(s) we suggest you add them to your 'Ignore List' which is a feature of the website (click on usercp to add a user) so you do not have to interact with anyone that YOU do not choose to interact with. Even though YOU as the user must make the decision to be subscribed to the political forum and if you are going to add a user to your ignore list we strongly encourage those who do remain for all that is American, have mature civil discussions about viewpoints without lowering their own personal beliefs, standards and morals. If you can't you should consider removing yourself from the political forum.

Still am thankful to Gary Corsair for that Memorial Day 2007 article in the Villages Daily Sun.

(1) As used in this section, the term:
(a) “Harass” means to engage in a course of conduct directed at a specific person which causes substantial emotional distress to that person and serves no legitimate purpose.
(b) “Course of conduct” means a pattern of conduct composed of a series of acts over a period of time, however short, which evidences a continuity of purpose. The term does not include constitutionally protected activity such as picketing or other organized protests.
(c) “Credible threat” means a verbal or nonverbal threat, or a combination of the two, including threats delivered by electronic communication or implied by a pattern of conduct, which places the person who is the target of the threat in reasonable fear for his or her safety or the safety of his or her family members or individuals closely associated with the person, and which is made with the apparent ability to carry out the threat to cause such harm.

And it is based on experiences with the Michelle Mitchell murder that was on 2-24-1976 near the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The killer of Michelle Mitchell is probably Rodney Halbower and he goes on trial for other murders he allegedly committed in the San Francisco Bay area in 1976. This starts in August 2017 as far as I know. Trial date set for suspect in Gypsy Hill killings (http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/04/12/trial-date-set-for-suspect-in-gypsy-hill-killings/)

On Tuesday, Rodney Lynn Halbower, 68, pleaded not guilty to killing 18-year-old Veronica Cascio and 17-year-old Paula Baxter in 1976. Judge Donald Ayoob set Halbower’s bail at $10 million and scheduled his trial for Aug. 21, according to prosecutors.

Halbower was connected to the decades-old killings through a DNA match discovered by the San Mateo County Crime Lab, along with crime labs in Oregon and Washoe County, Nevada.

DNA also was used to link Halbower to the killing of Michelle Mitchell, a University of Nevada, Reno student. Mitchell was found dead in Reno in the midst of the killings.

One of the most useful letters I received with respect to getting Hollywood interested in helping with this 26 year Herculean pro bono 224 613 Project. I lived in California from 1984 through 1986 and then again from late November 1991 through about March or April of 1996.

This letter from the California Victim and Witness Coordinating Council would have been presented to Ms. Myra Young at the UCSF Health Sciences Campus as well as sent to movie studio executives, movie directors, celebrities with movie connections, and many many more. Especially to writers, scholars, dancers, victimologists, comedians, musicians, news anchors, and many others along with scores of other such letters.

The big point I am trying to make is that and my hundreds of thousands of like minded correspondents over the past 26 years have pestered librarians about the need of practical information for survivors/victims of crimes. Some communities offer many avenues to useful information, others maybe too many and confuse people, and some still have way too few.

This was a response to my many e-mails to US State Attorney General Offices about the Florida Victim Services Directory. Came by letter. Unfortunately I do not have that many copies of e-mails that I sent to these government officials as I had sent so many of them back in the period from 1999-2006 and had also tried to share this with authorities in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and some other countries. :BigApplause:

This is also when I would have been volunteering at the Palm Harbor and probably the East Lake Community Library for about 10-14 hours per week. Both of these libraries were under the thumb of Gene Coppola. Coppola wanted 50% of my Project within 5 minutes or so of when I first met him around July of 2000. I said "No"! and that kind of ended what was never going to be much of a friendship. He started out our interview with "I do not like liars and whiners" and promptly proofed that is what he is. I still tried to get along with this jerk.

Another letter out of NYC or New York State. This is from the Victim Services of that great city. This is work on my part as it took many letters and/or e-mails often to get a response. Sometimes not that many though.

How can you help with this massive 224 613 Project? What is in your home town's libraries and Sheriff's Offices that might aid survivors/victims of crimes looking for practical information to deal with the legal system, their mental health, finances, spiritual life, etc.

What is a community that has very good links in their libraries and sheriffs' offices for survivors/victims of crimes?

Some have not obviously and many of these were in leadership roles in law librarianship but things change. Sounds like Alice in Wonderland. One pill to make you big; the other to make you small.

The 224 613 Project is my effort based on my experiences dealing with the Michelle Mitchell 2-24-1976 murder in Reno, Nevada to get practical materials for survivors/victims of crimes into or accessible through libraries of all kinds. 613 is my number in a 17 week study on stress on the unemployed conducted by the University of California, SF Health Sciences campus in late 1992-1993. I had used these two numbers 224 and 613 from late 1992 onward to create an international dialog-- which is still going on-- about the practical needs of survivors of crimes. I am using contacts made over the last 41 years starting in Reno, Nevada to do this. Part of these contacts come from the institutions where in earned four degrees and had started work on getting two others. 2-24 is also my birthday.

The people I have tried to get involved include movie directors, news anchors, movie stars, victim/witness assistance providers, CEOs, politicians, writers, psychiatrists, social workers, physicians, nurses, Presidents, Vice-Presidents, First Ladies, lawyers, publishers, the FBI, Interpol, librarians, etc.

February 24 and the day that my then Earl Wooster High School teacher Mrs. Barbara Mitchell's daughter Michelle Mitchell was murdered near the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Probably by the accused serial killer Rodney Halbower. Halbower is connected with the 1976 Gypsy Hill murders in the San Francisco Bay Peninsula.

9540 views now as of 1:35 PM EST 7/17/2017. Lots of lawyers, defendants, plaintiffs, law students and the like on Findlaw in 2002-2006. My troll turned out to be a white collar criminal in Chesterfield County, VA whom I took many trips to Tampa Bay area law and academic libraries trying to help as he was one personality with his regular avatar and e-mail and hundreds of fake ones with bogus e-mails and other names. Sometimes my own as well. He would use variations of my name and post. Started going to my Congressmen about changing the law with respect to cyber stalking and the like when both the Pinellas (FL) and the Chesterfield County, VA Sheriff's Office could not do anything about this cyberstalker/cybersmearer. He made some incredibly libelous statements about me as well. Have not seen and sign of him on the Internet since 2008.

I wonder if they have noticed the 26.6 years of work I have put into my Herculean 224 613 Project and the friends I seem to have made during that quest to help survivors/victims of crimes by getting many groups in each community involved in assessing the needs of that group in each community. Started by writing 4000 victim/witness assistance providers from 1992 through 2000 or so via snail and then e-mails about what they would like to see in their law and public libraries. Just collection development techniques taught me when I was at the University of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management where I graduated in May of 1984.

I have been working on this since January 1991 but it is just a hobby but did get me 24 nominations to Marquis Who's Who publications from 1992 through 2004 or so.

And I have tried to get many to spotlight the problems I saw when doing this massive 224 613 Project. Facebook has come in extremely handy with getting the message out.

What's in your library?

Fascinating, do you have a website or a publication after 26 years?

The inclusion of many lawyers into this 224 613 Project is critical to its survival.

Remember to ignore the trolls on this thread. The crux of this matter is what is in your local public and law library that will help survivors/victims deal with the legal system and that includes victims who have not reported crimes yet? That is before the bureaucracy kicks in.

I met law students/judges at the University of Nevada, Reno; Brigham Young University Law School; the University of Denver Law School in the Graduate student dorm; and the University of Minnesota Law School where I graduated in May 1989 and worked in the Law Library until June 1991. Had three male law student roommates and a girlfriend/roommate who was also my former Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners' student.

Also met law students as well as law professors at SUNY Buffalo; North Carolina Central University; and a few other places.

What is in your library?

This is about crowd sourcing of local professionals in social work, law, nursing, medicine, etc., evaluating what is in your local law and public libraries that will help survivors/victims of crimes. It is not about what some group in Washington DC dictates as being worthwhile for survivors/victims of crimes.

Mainly in the United States but I have sent snail mail letters, e-mails, and other stuff to people in many other countries as well. Often just looking for advice from experts in various areas.

Republicans have been more supportive over the past 26.5 years with my massive 224 613 Project. Mainly because this is about limiting government through arming people with access to very useful information about their rights and the services available to them. It would act as controls on bureaucrats and put more power in localities rather than the Federal government. I have had support from some Democrats as well. I had even sent some e-mails in the 2000s to the National Rifle Association about this. It is about defending yourself through education and logic. Kind of a hard sell in Trump land though.

Sad about developments with Senator John McCain. I liked how he stood up to candidate Donald John Trump and still continues this while Trump is President.
