DEVASTATING !
Will this "spur on" the team? Only time will tell. DO IT FOR JEETS ! |
Quote:
I hope Cashman's comment has a positive impact on these guys; "The best way to show respect for Derek Jeter is to go out and wind for him". |
Although I know we all are saying IT to ourselves, let's say it out loud:
JEETS - YOU WILL BE TERRIBLY MISSED. GET BETTER AND SEE YOU AT SPRING TRAINING. |
Jeter getting hurt is a devasting blow for sure.
A-Rod needs to step up if he wants the kind of adulation that Jeter gets and show us he is one of the greatest hiiters of all time. If not, they should consider him to be on the downside of his career. We don't need singles when they don't count. I am tired of seeing him strike out or worse yet, swing at pitches that miss the strike zone in a mile. Same with Granderson and Swisher. They can't hit a curveball worth a darn. I guess you tell I am frustrated with thir performance. Same for Cano. Whew..... I'm glad I got that out. They are 10 for 93 in the playoff. A putrid performance. They need to get their act together fast, as this is a good Tigers team. They need to win today as Verlander goes in game 3 and I'm sure he will dominated them. The pitching has done it's part so far. so the hitters need to show-up for a chance to win. A side note, "what genuis scheduled the Giants and Yankee game to be aired at the same time"? Sorry. I digress. |

Couldn't agree with you more. With the exception of 2009 A-Rod just DOESN'T COME THROUGH in the clutch! Compare him to Jeter? NEVER! Not just in his post season chokes but his whole attitude. As far as the other guys - who knows. Cano was red hot at the end of the season! Somehow, someway, they HAVE TO win tonight ! |
Well we're up 2-0 in the series with verlander and schurzer going in the next 2 games. Yankees could strike out 25 - 30 times in the next 2. This could be a sweep.
|
Hate to admit it but you could be right! The Yanks are just not hitting.
However - you never know ! |

Things don't look promising for the non-hitting New York Yankees with Verlander coming up next but that's why they play the game.
If it was played on paper, the Yankees would win every year. I've always said that money will not buy championships but you can guarantee you will make the playoffs. It's pretty frustrating to see them struggle at the plate. There is a boatload of money leaving the shores of Swisherland and Grandersonland as they are invisible in the playoffs and I'm sure that will factor into their free agency contracts. Go Yankees!!!! |
Being a die-hard Yankee fan, it is obviously very hard to see what is happening. And although it looks VERY dim,
remember one thing - they are still: THE NEW YORK YANKEES ! You never know. And I will root for them until the final out !!!! |
They live.....

Then again he's never played against Verlander. Us members of The Villages New York Yankee Club are planning a Playoff watching get together for the 4PM Thursday game(Game 4), Ain't we got confidence? PM me if you'd like to join us. We have to have a headcount. Also, we meet the 4th Monday of each month 7PM at Allamanda. |

I would love to but i do not live there yet. Was supposed to up there this past week for a lifestyle visit but had to cancel. Will be coming up in January though. Currently reside near Ft. Lauderdale. Thanks for the invite though. Will be watching. Maybe next year I will join you. |
If the Yankee bats wake-up and find a way to beat Verlander, then CC starts game 4 and probably wins evening the series.
I just thought of looking at this game positively. Go Yankees!!!!! |
Read this article about Yanks vs Verlander this year. Tex says they like facing a familar pitcher, even a Cy Young winner, as opposed to someone new. Good perspective here.

If you are a Yankee fan, you know one thing :
YOU NEVER GIVE UP !!!! We have been down this road before. Do you hear me A-Rod, Swish, Tex, Cano et al. ???? |
Congrats to the Tigers final 8 to 1.
Stick a fork in us, were done. No excuses. The better team won. Tigers go the World Series vs SF/Cards. |

I agree. Just never expected my Yankees to go down without a fight! Bats just never came alive. Oh Well - #28 will have to wait. :cryin2: |

Wait till next year!!!!!! |
Now you know what a Red Sox fan feels like!
|
You know that 11% of the US population is upset, right?
|
Had hoped to cheer the on... So disappointed ... But always proud to be a Yankee! Thanks Thuman!
|
Well, being a Red Sox fan, I no longer have anyone to root for. Tigers, Cardinals, Giants...who cares?
|
Go yankess go!!!!!!!!
Thanks for an exciting season boys. Need a few changes and trades.
Looking forward to the spring. GO YANKEES GO!!!!!!!!!!!! |
It was such a strange season with Rivera going down for the season, Petitte breaking his ankle, and Derek breaking his ankle. A-Rod had another disappointing post season (except for 2009, all his post seasons have been disappointing), but he wasn't the reason we lost. No one hit! It is time to make this team over. We have to get younger and we probably have to get faster. It won't be easy to do with A-Rods huge contract and no trade clause, but I hope Cashman can figure something out. But, congratulations to Detroit. They were the better team and I wish them good luck in the World Series.

Just great pitching by Detroit. Not so sure about the Yankees in a hitting slump, more of great pitching will win for you.

Give credit to the Detroit pitching staff - absolutely. But, the Yankee hitters have also been just plain LOUSY! Not saying Detroit wouldn't have won, but we didn't even put up a fight. Yankee pitching, for the most part, was not that bad either. |
The Yanks bats were streaky all year. They picked a hell of a time to go into another teamwide slump.

Hats off to the TIgers. |
2 0 1 3 - # 2 8 !!!!
|
Detroit pitching dominated. ERA of 0.7 for the starters and if one pitch wonder Valverde hadn't surrendered 4 runs in game 1........... WOW !!!! It would have been even worse for the Yankees. The yankees will be back again next year with a payroll approaching $400 million I expect.

A-Rod is going to be 38. Andy Petite 40 Mariano Rivera will be 83 years old and is probably done. Raul Ibanez 41 and Ichiro will be 40 in Japanese years. That's an awfully big chunk of your primary players around 40 years old and higher. |
Well here we go!
Pettitte is back and so is Mo. Who else may go and who may come? That is the question. |

Not resigning Martin will hurt. He was gutsy and a good defensive cathcher. Although he hit for a low average I felt he hit in hard luck. Maybe let Cervelli have another shot and give Romine some playing time. No need to go out and get another older player. If they want to go old, maybe Yogi can suit up again but I'm not sure if his knees could take the abuse anymore.

I ddin't see if Martin has signed a contract with anyone yet but the Yankees have signed Mo to a one year contract. New York - New Jersey Sports, Video, Photos, Recaps - Homepage - NY Daily News |

Cervelli isn't a major league caliber starter. He's all show and no arm and no bat. We need to get someone. Stewart is the best of the lot and they say he's not a starter either.
