Bobcuse - I think (hope) you are right!
I think it was in 1996 that the Yankees had a TERRIBLE September - they just plain sucked!
B U T - They re-grouped to kick butt and win the World Series.
Hopefully that is what is happening now !!!!

LETS GO YANKEES !

Those people who left (approx 39,000) after the A's took the 9-5 lead will all say they stayed until the winning run was scored. I hope the traffic jam for them is still jammed. Also...we didn't know about the antics of the A's after their homers in the 13th...read this...makes the victory sweeter.

Thanks for posting that. Didn't get to see the game but watched the score.
NEVER count the New York Yankees out - NEVER !

2BNTV 09-23-2012 10:07 AM

Game time was 5 hours and 45 minutes. What a marathon.

After investing 5 plus hours of my time, I was digusted when the A's hit three homers and went on to other things. Turned on the game at dinner after the Yankees tied it and then watched them win it in 14 innings.

WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!

In my defense, I would have never left the stadium early if I was there. I'm sure a lot of those fans were unhappy that they missed an awesome comeback.

GO YANKEES!!!!!!!

It's raining in New York. Suppossed to stop at 6:30 PM. Game at 7:05 PM.

I don't want the Yankees to play a doubleheader tomorrow as they usually split the wins. Hopefull, they will make all attempts to get the game in.

James Shields goes for Tampa Rays tonight. Go Rays.

Yankees pulled one out tonight. 4 -3 in the bottom of the 12th to stay 1 up on Baltimore with 1 to play!

What A Game Last Night!!!!

I sat down to watch the game last night and when I saw the line-up, I said to myself oh-no.

Mark Texiera was batting third and I didn't agree with that decision. My agony increase as he hit into two double plays and flied out to short center with the bases loaded. All in all a miserable night for Texiera as he left nine runners stranded. BTW - I love Texiera but a bad decision by Giradi.

Then Raul Ibanez came through and I was estactic. What a game!!!!!

Raul Ibanez comes up big twice as Yankees maintain one-game lead over Orioles with 4-3 victory over Boston Red Sox - NY Daily News

Bobcuse 10-03-2012 08:20 AM

Tex actually batted cleanup and Girardi puched the hot bat (Cano) to 5th!! Go figure! Raul bailed him out. I also don't get him moving Ichiro who is batting .385 for the Yankees from the successful 2 hole to 9th!! Joe keeps breaking up a good thing ...he's infatuated with Swisher, who has been hitting ok but why change a good thing??

2BNTV 10-03-2012 09:33 AM

I stand corrected in that Tex batted cleanup last night. My bad....

:agree:

My line-up against Dice-K would be.
1. Jeter
2. Ichiro
3. A-Rod
4. Cano
5. Texiera
6. Swisher
7. Granderson
8. Martin
9. Nunez

Ibanez available to pinch hit if needed.

To drive in runs from the top as well as the bottom.

ugotme 10-03-2012 01:15 PM

Tonight, tonight won't be just any night . . .
Be glad you can't hear me singing that :jester:

LET'S GO YANKEES !!!!

chuckinca 10-03-2012 08:30 PM

Yanks winning 9 - 1 bottom of the 6th and O's loosing 0 - 4 top of the 8th.

Looks like congrats are in order for the Yanks - now they get to play the winner of Rangers vs O's; a piece of cake, NOT!

GO A's ! ! !

If Joe keeps the lineup the same as last night it will give confidence to the players to keep pounding out those hits. I know the pitching will be tougher, but consistency is needed to prevent lineup juggling distractions at this time of the year (unless someone is really slumping and I didn't see much slumping last night). Go Yanks!!

What will be the final playoff roster? My expectations

Catchers-
Martin, Stewart.

Infield
Cano, Jeter, Arod, Teixeira, Chavez, Nunez
Outfield-
Swisher, Ichiro, Granderson, Ibanez, and the question- Who else.

Possibilities – Andruw Jones, Dickerson and or Brett Gardner???

My guess is one of these three will make the team.

Although Jones has played all season with the team he has proved he is done. No time for loyalty in the playoffs. Rumors are Gardner will make the team. I disagree and would rather have Dickerson because eof Teixeira’s uncertainty. If Tex goes down, Swish will need to play firstbase. Dickerson is also a fast runner and great defender.

Starting Pitchers-
CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte, Hiroki Kuroda and pray for rain.

Phil Hughes leads (tie with Kuroda) the team with wins but his inconsistency and habit of giving up home runs at the worst possible time is scary. Can you trust him in a big game?

Ivan Nova- Fell apart at the end of the season. Hunch says something is hurting him. Not dependable at this time.

David Phelps- The rookie who has come out of nowhere. Poised and consistent. I have more confidence in him over the previous mentioned starters. He could also be the long man if one of the other starters doesn’t do well.

If two out of these three make it- Ivan Nova should be the odd man out. Again, loyalty does not count in choosing the playoff roster.

We now have 18 players. Room for seven relievers. Who does not make roster?

Soriano, Robertson, Rapada, Eppley, Logan, Garcia, Chamberlain, Lowe

I like Lowe because of his experience and his sinker which brings ground ball outs.

I don’t think Jaba Chamberlain is 100% back yet.

Garcia is dangerous as a starter but his stuff is solid enough to get thru the lineup one time. I trust him in a two inning relief.

Tom:

Very good assessment.

My guess Giradi will go with Gardner as he likes players who have experience.
I disagree in that Gardner is also an excellent defensive replacement because of his speed. Also, he can pitch run if a base needs to be stolen. I think he is able to hit if needed.

I agree Andruw Jones is done and should be left off the roster.

I like Phelps as the fourth starter but Giradi will go with Hughes and bring Phelps in long relief if necessary. Maybe it should be this way instead of Hughes first but it won't happen as Giradi likes his experiences players. Who knows if Phil will finally pitch a gem in the fourth game of a series. Ivan Nova should be off the roster, I agree he is too inconsistent and I agree that he must have physical problems that he will never admit to. I'm not sure if leaving off Freddy the roster is a good idea as you can never have too much pitching. If one leaves Freddy off the roster, then you have Dickerson or Nix if he is healthy enough to play. Nix did a good job this year filling in and is a fast runner.

That's 25 players.

Go Yankees!!!!!

Tom Hannon 10-04-2012 10:46 AM

I also agree that Gardner is a great defender but his arm is not as strong as Dickensons. I just feel, as of now, Dickenson can do more for the team and have more value if Tex goes down. I would also like to keep Nunez to use as a righthanded DH.

As far as Freddy, you misunderstood me. I have Freedy on the roster and cutting Jaba.

Nix is a definate as he did a great job but he will be out for another ten days with a hip issue. Once the World Series comes, (if the Yankees get that far) Nix MUST be on roster. Not sure who will be off but we'll worry about that problem when and if the time comes.

Funny I did a work-up and came up with a roster very similar....

I would carry 11 pitchers only & 6 OF - Swisher can play 1st also! Gardner appearing as Dave Roberts and defensive relief.

Go Yanks!!!!

Rafael Soriano Closer
Derek Lowe Long Relief
Ivan Nova Long Relief
David Phelps Long Relief
Andy Pettitte Starter
CC Sabathia Starter
Phil Hughes Starter
Hiroki Kuroda Starter
Boone Logan Set Up
David Robertson Set Up
Joba Chamberlain Set Up
Russell Martin C
Chris Stewart C
Robinson Cano IF
Derek Jeter IF
Eduardo Nunez IF
Eric Chavez IF
Alex Rodriguez IF
Mark Teixeira IF
Brett Gardner OF
Curtis Granderson OF
Raul Ibanez OF
Ichiro Suzuki OF
Nick Swisher OF
Chris Dickerson OF
