Default Sparky Anderson......what a coach!

I'll never forget the 84' Detroit Tigers, guided by Sparky Anderson, with the
35-5 start! What a great summer for all of Michigan! We miss you Sparky!!
God Bless.....

Whenever I see Joe Girardi going through his loose leaf notebook during a game to help him make a baseball decision, I think of guys like Sparky Anderson and what he would have to say about that. Nothing against Joe (I'm a fan), but all of those statistics were kept in Sparky's outstanding baseball mind, and he didn't need no sinkin' books! RIP Sparky.

Funny, I never even knew Sparky was a slugger in his time. I just knew him as a great coach and as someone anyone who played sports should use for an example. He exemplified a lot of what made baseball great (including knowing the stats!). How tragic that such a mind would have been lost to dementia. RIP.
