In 2015, the Milwaukee Brewers had a promotion where they offered 1000 fans a "Timeless Ticket" for $1000! It was good for any game at any time!

As stated on their website,

“Timeless Ticket owners can redeem their Timeless Ticket to any future Brewers home game at American Family Field. Whether it’s this season, the year 2050, or the 7th game of the World Series, all are valid games to redeem a Timeless Ticket.”

Unfortunately, the fine print said that purchasers could redeem the ticket for "the best available seat locations, subject to ticket availability at the time of redemption."

As might be expected, demand is up so the best available seat selections are in the 400 level (upper deck). Many Timeless Ticket holders were upset about the seat selection, so the Brewers have attempted to resolve the issue.

About an hour ago, the Brewers announced that Timeless Ticket holders will be able to keep their World Series tickets for this year's games (which are in the upper deck) and also retain the voucher for use in the future.

I don't understand what the problem is. Of course redeeming the timeless ticket is subject to availability.

Was there an expectation that the timeless ticket could be used to bump someone out of the seat they had purchased? Could I use the timeless ticket to get into a sold out game and choose the person who would be ejected in order to make room for me? Of course not.

The only issue I can see is if the ticket was redeemed for the best available seat without being told what the best available seat would be. The holder might have chosen not to redeem the ticket if he knew he would be in the upper level. If that is the situation then it is commendable that the Brewers are allowing them to keep the seat and also retain the voucher.
