Each course is given a water allocation for the year by the Sumter Water District. The superintendent then determines the water schedule based on the allotment of water. The district can reduce the amount of water based on drought conditions, therefore the the superintendent has to adjust the amount of use.

I suggest closing all of the golf courses so that maintenance can be completed.

Yep, the first hole green is awful as are most greens. Someone should be fired for this.

I hadn't played in about a year because an old injury acted up. But I played a few times in the past ten days on executive courses and the conditions are horrendous. I am amazed that the Villages does such a great job on pretty much everything except golf. One of the biggest attractions here is "Free Golf" for life. You would think that they'd take a bit more pride in their golf courses like they do with everything else.

Played Orange Blossom yesterday and even at $23.00 it is not worth it.
Why is it that you can play Cain Garden and there is nice turf to hit off of on the fairways but with OB Hills it is like hitting off of asphalt? Mystery to me why most of the time they cannot grow grass at OB Hills. |

What is the condition of Mallory Hill since it has re-opened? Is Havana still not good to play?

About the only thing I could say would be "you don't have to drive far to get to one". That's about it. Otherwise, overpriced and boring.

I played Havana (Kenya to Hemingway) yesterday, it was in very good shape. One unusual note, I had played Bonifay the week before and you go straight to the starters shack at Ft. Walton and they line the carts up on the big walkway heading toward Destin. You actually play Destin as your front nine. However, at Havana if you go to the starter shack, because space is limited, they sent to the club house parking lot. The lower golf cart lot is blocked off. Then an ambassador will ask your teetime and they have your group park in the parking lot in spots with a teetime marker. You can still use the putting green, they have it so you can walk through the outside seating area of the restaurant to get to the putting green.
