Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Ronda, I not only remember them, but must confess they were a favorite of mine. My boots were white patent leather, tight to the knee. I sometimes wore them with my kelly green, patent leather, mini skirt and matching green, patent leather, military style, waist length, fitted jacket. I really thought I was "all that" in that outfit. Ahhh those were the days!
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Susan, I bet you were all that!! I remember that they got black scuffmarks the first time I wore them. ggrrrrr. Used vaseline to polish them up. I loved my brown suede boots, w/purple, black, fuscia and brown suede mini skirt and a black danskin bodysuit. I think I have a picture! I think Petula Clark had a little something to do with the boot craze! Ooo la la !!!

;D  CONGRATULATIONS SUSAN on your 500th post. ;D |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
When I wore my white "go-go" boots, I lived in California and danced in a cage. OMG, that was 100 years ago. I must have danced to Woolly Bully thousands of times. Now everything has gone south, I'm sure they would only let me dance if I agreed to wear an astronaut's suit complete with head gear.

Congratulations Susan and Tom.
You made it. HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Bare any movies or videos of you in the cage? ;)
HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
HB, it was so long ago, they didn't even have movies or videos in those days. Thank heavens.
Susan .. I notice you have 500 posts. I'm not sure whether this deserves congratulations or commiserations. Rather than congratulating you, I just want to mention there is a 12-step Group for those who are addicted to TOTV. Although The Program hasn't worked for most of us, I heard a rumour that it worked for Oshunlover. TOTV is like the Hotel California, once you check in you can never leave! I've spent 14 DAYS on this site. I keep intending to take a break for a couple of weeks. But as you can see I'm still here! |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Oh Bare, that was funny. :a20:

Hi Bare, sorry I can not agree with your response. Movies were in full vogue at that time as well as movie cameras.
If my memory serves me correctly I know someone else who also danced but outside the cage. I guess they were more daring. ;) HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Susan and Tom,
As Mark Twain wrote when he was quitting cigarettes - it is very easy to do. Every time he has a cigarette he says he will quit when he finishes that cigarette. He also said he stops smoking numerous times a day. So every time you go on TOTV read and/or post you state that you will quit TOTV. See how easy it is? ;D This has worked for me, that is why I am NOT ADDICTED to TOTV. I will stay on for another few minutes and then quit. You can see by the number of posts approximately how many times I have quit with no problem at all. HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hyacinth, I have no intention of quitting, so I don't call it addiction, I call it choice! I think we are on the same wave length here.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
I can't even explain how I feel. We have our little piece of paradise sitting there and we can't enjoy it ??? ??? ??? Once we move in it will take a crow bar to get me out, that's for sure.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Johnny,
Once you move in tho your in for good!! No leaving anymore unless by choice! Its sure worth the agony of the wait, can you imagine how it feels for us snowbirds to finally get settled in and loving life and then have to go back North!!!! Knowing that it will be months and months until we can come back???? ARGGGGGGGGGG! its maddening for sure! Hope this makes you feel a little better. ;) |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
You are so right Nonie. It will be so worth it once we get there and thanks I do feel better now. We think of Giovanni or Giovanna every night. We definitely are going to rescue a greyhound. Do you think he or she can learn their new name over time? Is it okay to change their name or will that hurt the animals personality? It's because of all the new things we are going to experience, golf cart, Giovanni, furnishing the villa, tennis, bowling, softball, the squares, the pools, etc. only makes it harder to wait. I guess in the end it will make us appreciate our life that much more and keep me out of the "Where have all the buffalo's gone" threads where you can get into some deep trouble. Thanks again Nonie for your boost of confidence. So nice to have you as friend.

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Bf, you are a special case in the sense that you have no choice. You are facing the law of the land and your family must hurt doubly because of it. Once we get over this bump we will be TV's as long as the good Lord let's us live. In your case absence makes the heart grow fonder to the TV'ers you leave behind every 6 month's, and that is a good thing. Imagine if you had to wait one year. I guess things could always, always be worse.
|
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Absolutely, Johnny, things could be way, way, way worse. I remind myself of that daily (I also remind Nonie who is finding it hard to be away from TV)! I really wasn't intending to complain. I'd be willing to bet that most TOTVers have a lifestyle that would be the envy of most people. I have many blessings in my life and I am filled with gratitude for them. I miss TV and the friends I made, but Canada is beautiful also, and I have many friends here. And a summer cottage on a Lake. I am a very lucky person and I actually keep a Gratitude Journal to remind myself to stay positive.
Absence does make the heart grow fonder, and I will be very excited when October comes. |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
It seems as soon as July 4th weekend is over, its Labor Day. That's how fast time seems to fly. See you soon in TV

We are getting close though. Contractor left yesterday. Stuff to keep, is in storage, more will follow. Staging of the house is in process...room by room, etc, etc. Garage sale stuff is flooding the garage, soon to go away, one way or another). Cleaning crew is hired and poised for attack. Neighbors are looking for buyers for us now and we will be having an Open House just for them and any "guests" they would like to bring within 2 weeks. Pre-Realtor sale earns our neighbors a $ bonus. Realtor research has begun and will commence if neighbors prove unsuccessful. Price will be right. Looking for a quick sale. All that said we will not be giving this house away...so keep your fingers crossed, say a prayer, whatever good karma you can send please do so. Cause Sam...I agree with Bare and Johnny and HB. We miss you and everyone else MORE! http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...36_1_671-1.gif |

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hi, just recalled a "trick" I recall hearing from a friend who was selling her house. Her house sold but do not know if it was because of the following.
1. She always had an informal bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table - not a large one. 2. Made vanilla tea so that the house would smell delicious. 3. Kept the cookie dough you buy in the fridge section in her fridge. When ever the house was to be shown she quickly popped a batch of cookies into the oven. The scent of cookies baking gave one the feeling of being at home. Hope this helps. HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hi Johnny - just read your post. Your new pups may like riding in the golf cart. Pups liked it so much he nipped the cart wheels to get it going whenever our son stopped when they got to there destination. We have friends who have rescued greyhounds. They are just so beautiful and graceful. It is amazing the way they curl up. Hope your pups will learn to trust you quickly. While you are waiting for the day to arrive when you can move to TV please don't forget to live each day. We are all so lucky, that I feel it is extremely important to always remember that. Like Bare does, keep a journal, for me - that would force me to remember all the wonderful things I have in life to be grateful for. Don't forget you can always come to TV even if your home isn't sold. Just my thoughts. HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Thanks HB, as always you are so level headed. BTW we are only going to rescue one greyhound. If it's a male, Giovanni if a female then Giovanna. We won't know until we go to adopt. I never knew that greyhounds could not sit. There hind legs are too long. They either have to curl up or lay flat. I have read dozens of pages concerning the greyhound and how to be a good dad to one. Barbara is equally as excited. We should be down sometime in June but have to come back and stay on top of things here until the house sells. Talk to you soon, JM

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hi JM, when in June will you and Barbara be down?
If you two have a girl will you buy it a rhinestone collar? HB |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Hb somewhere around June 16ht thru June 25th or so. Yes if it is a girl, a befitting rhinestone collar. I aready purchased 6 neck ties (scarves).

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Johnny,
Any bites on the house? Adopting a grayhound. How wonderful. A former skating coach of mine has one. I remember when he got "Abby". He asked me to see his dog--I quickly corrected him and told him she was his "little girl". I became known as Aunt Peggy. She is such a sweetie. |

Peggy, what are you referring to?
I'm with you. Staying off the general forum for a while. Too dangerous. May get hit in the cross-fire! HB |

Come on back. The crossfire has died down and hopefully honest ideas are all that will be presented and exchanged . Susan, Hug yourself for me. :)

Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
JohnnyM,
Im a little slow on the uptake, WOW!! A GREYHOUND! THATS WONDERFUL! WHAT A SUPER DECISION! Wasant it a golden that you had your heart set on? They are wonderful dogs too. Im really so excited to think that you will be rescuing a dog that might have been put down. Im sure you will never regret your decision, it just feels so wonderful to give a dog that has never had any love or attention a good home. Im sure you & Barbara will have him/her spoiled in no time.Love the name. ;D |
Re: Chatters Talk: Happy or Sad
Nonie you are absolutely right, I wanted a golden retriever in the beginning. After meeting "Blue" at Spanish Springs on our second trip, I fell for the greyhound. Blue was a rescued GH. In fact when we closed on our home in March, that night we went to SS square and met Blue and his owners again. We met them on our tour trip in January. That night they had "Greyhound Donation Night" where they put little money coats on the dogs and they went around and collected dollar bills for the adoption center. There must have been 30 beautiful dogs there. I was in heaven. Blue's owners tells us that the GH is a very low key animal and loves people. Blue lays there and loves to be petted. Blue has one blue eye and one brown eye and is totally gray. Just a beautiful looking dog. I read that they have no odor due to their short hair. They are all muscle with very little fat and rarely get sick. Walk them twice a day maybe run once (on a leash a must as they will chase anything moving fast, then get lost). Once they get to know you they will always love you. Sorry for rambling on..........Johnny
