LPN 1982 to 1992, RN then to now. Last 20 with HIV, specifically last 9 in Infectious Disease. I might go back to work in home care but am definitely looking forward to doing my own thing for a while. I applied for my FL license, what an out of pocket expense that was! I'm an ACRN (AIDS Certified Registered Nurse) and still had to pay for that dang stupid HIV exam when I have to pay $70/yr for my ACRN dues and every 4 y accreditation! I haven't heard if I got accepted or not. They are scrutinizing my application for some health problems I had 2 years ago and have been cleared of for 1 year. It looks like there will be lots of options available for work. I can't wait to get there...eta 10/1/10!!!

I work as an RN (supervisor) at TVRH. We are always looking for experienced RNs. They do not have a maternity or pediatric ward (the "sister" hospital in Leesburg does). I started work here this summer, after making the move here full time and love it- the people I work with are fabulous! Good luck in your job hunts- central Florida needs lots of nurses!

I moved down here over a year ago and have had a difficult time finding a job. I have 26 years experience as an RN in hospital, dr office, insurance, nursing homes, teaching cardiac rehab, case management, diabetic education etc. My trouble is that I need medical benefits which limits the choices. I tried HHC but was so exhausted from the driving, paperwork and heat, I couldn't enjoy the patients. Would love to work @ TVRH or LRMC even in a lesser capacity than RN, but I can't even get an interview. Any suggestions on how to get thru the door?

That's kind of weird. They have so many full-time full benefits openings.

I've spoken with two nurse recruiters who told me that it should be no problem finding a full time spot when the time comes for me. Heck they plan to open a new hospital near Brownwood in about 2 years. That should yield hundreds of new openings.

Is there something unique about your resume? You now have me a little scared about my options.

How about LPNs as well? - what does that avenue of employment look like around TV? -- I have years of technical operations experience in NY, but I don't see much need around TV -- thinking of putting 2 years in for an LPN degree and signing on for the life down there ! What do you think?

I'm a Registered Nurse, certified case manager. I have worked winters at TVRH, found it a good place to work.

My last job up north was 7yrs at an insurance company and I think they think I am not up to date on my experience. I held a position that reviewed all hospitalizations for 30+ hospitals. Yes, there are several positions posted, but unless you want full time in ER or ICU they are only posted positions, not real openings. Believe me I have called and they are only hiring full time. I am at the end of my career (5-7 yrs to go) and do not want the intensity or hours I may have thrived on when I was younger.

Ok thanks. I'm looking full-time only so it should work out. Heck, they always need more testosterone at those nurses stations
