I started this... and I am truly sorry. I was trying to make a joke. Please accept my apology. I really didn't mean to make this a debate.

Thanks

30,866 Sumter residents voted for McCain
17,655 voted for Obama
I'm not sure the voting demographic has changed much since the 2008 election. As indicated, there are more then a handful of Democrats in the Villages....just not a majority.

I am a proud Republican and somewhat conservative, but I do have to say that a TOTV open forum is not the place for making such negative comments as you have. I know that there are democrats on TOTV that I wouldn't like to have for friends, but there are others that I have the utmost respect for. i.e. Red Witch and Angiefox10. (if I read her right) I'd be honored if I could call either of them friends! I'm sure that there are others, but just don't know enough yet to say!

i take it you must use the term somewhat a little loosely. I doubt that you are that proud as you state. Besides one can still be friends and be on the opposite end of the political spectrum. It happens all the time. I hope one does not always have to make proper and politically correct comments. That is what is wrong with our political system toay. Politicians are too afraid to express their true feelings for fear what the media will do. I say the hell with the media and say whqat we mean and mean what we say. I think this site gets a little dull without some strong opinions and a little bit of humor and that is what i intend to bring to the site as well as being as helpful as i can on general information topics other than politics. As long as the language is clean and not vulgar the site will be that much better for it!

This post was meant for information only as to the fact that yes, there is a Democratic club, and giving the next meeting date. If you wish to debate the pro's and con's of the various parties, please take it to Political. Thank you.

Between this and your other posts, it's interesting that you failed to include the word respectful in that last statement!

And some posters flame people that voice a suspicion about new posters like this. Unbelievable!

Taj44.......Let me see if I have this right. You post a thread about the Democratic Party in the General Forum. Someone with another point of view brings a little heat and you want that poster to "take it to political"?

At the outset, your post may have been better placed in Political instead of General. In any case, I can't imagine it will be very long before the posts and/or thread goes

Thanks for the reminder. We can only hope certain parties read and more importantly, understand.

This thread has gotten off topic. It was an announcement made, perhaps should have been in the Clubs section or Political. Regardless, please direct comments to the topic and not each other. If you would like to add further commentary please start a new topic in the appropriate sections. Thank you in advance for your considerations.

If it were in political I would not have read it. I am interested in the discussion on the issues - doesn't matter whether it is the Republican or Democratic club. Agree that the other comments belong in political.

I posted a thread about a Democratic Club meeting. I did not post any kind of point of view here, simply a meeting notice. The reason I did it is because a lot of new people are moving to The Villages, and some of those people are Democrats, and may want to attend the meetings. They have heard that there are only Republicans here, and it is nice to let them know there is another option; I do see others who are trying to "get something going" because they see the word Democrat. My feeling is, if a person wants to debate issues, that is what the Political forum is for. I have no desire to debate political issues with anyone, so I don't belong to Politcal.

In retrospect, I probably should have posted this under "Clubs" since it is a notice about a club meeting. I will ask the administrator to move this thread to "Clubs".

Taj44: I appreciated you posting the announcement in this forum. As a soon to be resident and a relative newbie to TOTV, I probably would not have even seen it in the "clubs" forum because I infrequently read those threads.

As for those folks intending to make this thread a political discussion, I would suggest for folks to not take the bait and avoid the political commentary. For those wishing to have political discussions, this is obviously not the right venue, but the proper venue does exist--just not here.

My vote goes to Political.....because that is what it is.

Don't forget about that famous "respect" word over there in Political...and here in TOTV.

You're welcome! I guess that was in the back of my mind. I rarely look at the "clubs" forum either. But there was no intention of getting political debate going. Again, just putting a meeting notice out there.
