Default Was this the greatest weekend of college football ever played??

What a day for college football!!!

It's the first time five teams ranked in the AP Poll top eight have lost on the same day since the poll's inception in 1936.

#1 Georgia lost at home to unranked Auburn 27-24 on a walkoff field goal.

#2 Notre Dame lost to #8 BYU 28-24. BYU took the lead with 1:47 left but Notre Dame drove to the BYU nine yard line with 4 seconds left but ND’s final pass was incomplete.

#3 Miami beat unranked Florida State in double overtime 43-35.

#4 Ohio State beat #5 Indiana 19-15. With just over one minute left, Indiana had 4th and four from the OSU 27 yard line. Indiana threw a pass into the end zone which was caught by an Indiana player giving Indiana the lead. However, replays showed that the player’s left foot came down out of bounds by a couple of inches.

#6 Alabama lost to #14 Tennessee 26-10.

# 7 Texas lost to unranked Florida 27-24.

It was one of the most chaotic but overall characterized by some really lousy play.

College football Trumps NFL football any day of the week.

The younger players are faster, seems to go for it more on 4th.

They play for proud of the game without high contracts.

You can watch the development of future pro players.

Have you been hiding somewhere? If they were playing for the pride of the game, they wouldn't be demanding millions to step on the field. The days of student athletes are long gone. They are, by definition, professionals.

Dear O. P.,

I'm guessing that not everyone agrees with you.

Everyone may not agree but no one has come up with another alternative!

These are the facts.

Five of the top seven teams in the Associated Press Top 25 lost on the same day for the first time in the history of the poll, which dates back to 1936. The losers included No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Notre Dame, marking the first time since 2012 the top two teams lost on the same day. All of the teams that fell were college football superpowers, too: Georgia, Notre Dame, No. 5 Indiana, No. 6 Alabama and No. 7 Texas. Georgia, Alabama and Texas lost on the same day for the first time since Oct. 26, 1996.

And ESPN states that it is the first time in AP poll history that the country’s No. 1 team lost on the last play in consecutive weeks.
