Thanks to all of you for replying with some great information and things to think about.

What happens with the billing in subsequent years after the promotional offer is over? We were given a quote for the current promo for new customers and asked this question to the rep. He was non-committal when he answered that it would stay the same. Since there is no contract with Quantum Fiber (like Spectrum) does the same thing happen a year later that the promo price falls away and then the full current price takes affect?

I, too, have to call Spectrum every year to threaten with cancellation if our bill doesn't stay the same or at least in a reasonable range. After years of doing that, we switched to YouTubeTV but still need the internet so we stayed with Spectrum just for internet. Now we are ready to get rid of Spectrum because of this annual price bump after the promo goes away. So that's why I'm asking about how QF bills after the promo goes away.

I really do appreciate all the insight you offered and look forward to anymore you might have.
It is very clear in the fine print. It states the current $45/month 1Gbs service is NOT a promotional price meaning its not like cable where it is scheduled to increase after a specific period of time. But they do say the price could increase. In my experience over the past 5 years, Quantum has increased the price for new customers $5 and then i've seen them lower it again so, although the price could increase at some time in the future, it's probably a low possibility. The one thing they did get rid of is the price-for-life pricing for new customers. That's gone. For those that have it, ATT did send out an e-mail that they would honor that pricing for those who have it.

And remember, no matter what the cost, fiber is always going to be faster and more reliable than cable. I wouldn't go with cable even if it were for free.

We get 1Gb up and down, no data cap. Includes equipment, which includes a mesh router if needed. Includes installation, includes sod replacement wherever they have to dig into our property to run the fiber. We don't do auto-pay so we miss out on *that* $10/month discount.

So we'll be paying $60/month, we get the 1st and 3rd month free, and we'll get a $100 preloaded MasterCard virtual card after 90 days. No contract, but if we switch to a different plan within the first year we lose out on the discount. The discounted 1gb plan is cheaper than the regular price 300mbps plan. So we'll keep it for at least a year. If the 300mbps plan is cheaper the following year, we'll switch then.
Excellent! Just be aware that service from T-Mobile is only available in certain areas in the Northern parts of the Villages. South of you down to Rt44, Fenney and DeSoto you get Quantum fiber and South of Sawgrass everyone gets Centric Fiber. All excellent and similar in price.

Then what would you do for internet if cable was all you had available in your village? We have no fiber available in DeLuna. You would just not have internet at all??? Seems pretty drastic to me, and definitely not something we’re willing to do. We have Spectrum currently, but are thinking about trying TMobile internet because we’ve had our phones with them for many years, and have been happy with their service. Spectrum just keeps raising our “internet only” rate annually, so we want out.

Julie, the $45 for the 1Gig service is NOT a promotional price which means it is not scheduled to increase at a specific time in the future like cable. In the past 5 years, I've only seen a $5 increase for new customers then they lowered it again. It says all this in the fine-print details.

This Monthly Price is not an introductory rate.
This Monthly Price does not require a contract.
This price does not include the $5/mo discount when paying by bank account.

In your case, there is no fiber in your Village so, you can get fixed wireless internet from T-Mobile, ATT or Verizon. Best to get the fixed wireless internet from the company you have your cell phones with so you get the cheapest price.

Someone who lives in Marsh Bend, which is down the street from my village has TMobile for Internet. We’re south of 44, not in the northern areas.

I've installed T-Mobile fixed wireless for a couple people in Fenney and up North and it works fine as long as you are close enough to one of their towers. And if you already have T-Mobile cellular, you can't beat the price.

There’s a tower in DeLuna that has had many cellular antennas added to it recently after being just a satellite tower for a long time. It’s not far from our home. We definitely need to look into getting TMobile Internet.
