Sounds like the voice of experience.

Z... Good idea! Illl have to keep that one in my arsenal of quick fixes.

Ok...here's the real techie advise, although you might not like it. Put the laptop in the dishwasher and run the normal cycle. It's best to have some sort of compressed air to blow it out, but as long as you don't power up the laptop until it is completely dry, it will not harm the laptop. Be sure to take out the battery too.

I have saved a few in my day but it may take some work and that will depend on how much liquid got into the unit. And it is better if the drink has not dried. Keyboards do not like sugar.

If you can take the lap top apart and get the keyboard out the better. With the keyboard out try and wash it out with distilled water. Next shake out as much of the water as possible and try and dry every place you can with a rag. Next let the keyboard dry or if you have a hair dryer use that to blow out the water from under the keys. Take the keyboard out the the hottest place in the house or garage and let it dry overnight.

While the keyboard it off the lap top check inside the unit to see if any other parts or circuit boards got wet. If so then clean things as best as possible.

Reassemble and hope it works.

I worked tech support for over 10 years and one time a guy called and said he spilled a large glass of water on his lap top. Lucky for him the lap top was not on at the time. I knew he was in Dallas Texas and it was the middle of summer so I told him to take it out to his car and open lap top up and put it on the floor of the car. He needed to make sure that it was sitting like an A-frame house. I told him baking time should be a few hours. He called back later in the afternoon and other than the water spots the thing worked like a charm.
