Default Dear Mr. Tony, Mr. Admin, Sir:

Tony,

I am trying to access Lyle Gant's site, too, and I cannot. Also when I tried to tell you that in the thread that I2ridehd started today, I could not reply in that one either.

It said that I had been denied access or was trying to edit somebody else or whatever.

But here I am, speaking to you live, from another forum.

Well, you know what I think? I think it is just that forum where Lyle Gant's stuff is that is accessible only to admins.

OK, Mr. Tony, Mr. Admin, Sir, admit it. The non-tech. alleged English major just figured it out I bet. And if that is the case, I had better get a cyber high-five or something from you. Or maybe just a bow will do. HAH!

Maybe you have to log in on Lyles site to see those files as the links are posted.

Thumbs up

I couldn't give you a high-five because our high-five smiley has left us, perhaps for another forum.

You hit it. I moved that thread over there so Lyle would make sure to find it. But inside his place there, only he, and other Remax people, can post.

I think maybe I have to open an English major forum somewhere here. And by the way, my English major suspicion of you wavered today when I saw you put words smack dab in the middle of an infinitive. I thought, "Dern, Boomer's not an English major after all." Then I figured it out. You did that infinitive splitting to mislead us into thinking you are not an English major.

I don't think it is really nice to knowingly or intentionally split an infinitive to mislead us. I think you have to be license to split an infinitive.

Here are the permissions listed for me for the sub-forum that Lyle and other Real Estate sponsors post to and moderate.

You may not post new threads
You may not post replies
You may not post attachments
You may not edit your posts

Here are my permissions for this general TV discussion forum:

You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may not post attachments
You may edit your posts

Looks to me like a permissions issue in the forum that Lyle uses that's preventing us everyday members from retrieving his pdf or posting. Works for Tony because he has super admin privileges.

I will test that, but Lyle's files are not on this forum and all members should be able to successfully click links to any site. I'll let you know in a few minutes.

Well, Mr. Tony, did I dangle any participles? And I love to split infinitives.

And I gotta tellya, I am so pathetically thrilled to have been the first to post the answer.

But I am not naive. I see here that you have written your post in a somewhat cagey manner, with diversionary tactics in it, and not admitting anywhere, at all, that I, Boomer B. Boomer, herself, beat you, Mr. Tony, Mr. Admin, Sir, to the solution.

Well, I'll be. I logged out as me and returned wearing a pair of those glasses and the big nose so the system wouldn't know who I was. And it denied me access to Lyle's PDF file.

I have called in some muscle on this problem.

Thanks.

Tony, I went into Lyle Gant's post here in the thread called New vs. Pre-Owned and I got into his link just fine. (I really like those DOM's on there. That is good info to have when looking for a pre-owned home.)

Anyway, I can get what I want to get into now.

And I understand why some forums have to be locked to other posters. Advertising posts have to be in a different category. That makes sense. Anyway, I can get into the link and that's all that's needed. And I see there have been some additions to Lyle's site, some new categories.

And enough of my Adventures in the Land of Computer Stuff. I have always said that where computers are concerned, I do not care to know why they are or are not doing what they are supposed to do. I just want them to do it. And Lyle's link is working fine for me.

Thanks.

I was able to open the links on his site too. He certainly has A LOT of good information, but dare I say almost TOO Much. When one enters the web site it's almost overwhelming. I guess it's better than too litle info.

Mr. Tony....I could not access Lyle Grants attachment in his thread New Vs Pre-owned. I got the pop-up stating that I do not have access, this may be due to one of several reasons: 1. then 2.

Can u allow me access to his attachment.
Thanks.

Hi collettemrk,

Mr. Tony might be snoozing now, but this is something that I can actually help you with. And btw, I know how you feel. There are times when I can't find something either.

Anyway, go first to the home page. There you will find a list of all the different forums in TOTV.

Find the forum where you want to post and click on it.

A page will open with a list of all the threads in the forum you have chosen. (A black bar at the top of the list says "Threads in Forum.")

Just above that black bar and to the left, you will see a blue tab that says, "New Thread." Click on that and you are ready to go.

Boomer

Exactly, Boomer!
I use a refrigerator every day, and I have no idea how it works, nor do I care. It should do what it's supposed to do. Period. Same with computers.

A big high five to you for solving the Lyle Link problem! Yay!

Hi Judy,

Welllll, I guess I did not exactly solve anything, but I sort of knew why it was not working. And now I am finding myself giving directions on how to start a new thread and I think I better get out of here before Mr. Tony wakes up and thinks I am trying to take his job. And he threatened to start a separate forum for just English majors and I do not know why in the world he thinks I could possibly get into that one.

And about what you said about computers and refrigerators. I know. A few years back there was a skit on SNL or one of those shows. And there were these computer guys who would come into an office and look with disgust at a person having computer problems. And then the computer guys would look at each other and roll their eyes and quickly type something, fixing the problem instantly, and then exit dramatically, holding their heads high in a haughty way. And I loved that skit. It was about my life on some days at work.
