Default Help Active Sync

Hi All,
I have been struggling with a problem for over a year and hope someone with a lot more knowledge than me can help. When I try to view MPG and similar files, a window comes up the overlays the MPG file that Says:

Get Connected

To connect your device to this PC:

1. Connect the cable to the PC
2. Turn on the device
3. Place the device in its cradle

ActiveSync should automatically detect your device.

If your device is not automatically connected, click next.
If you are using Infrared (IR) click help.

I have opened numerous setting and options and have yet to solve this problem.

I have an IBM Thinkpad R51 running XP. It is now hardwired to my router but in the past been wireless. I had also in the past been using bluetooth for an organizer which has now been deposited in the trash bin. I suspect that this is the source of my problem but I cannot find the switch to cure the problem.

Thanking you for your help in advance

Trevor Bailey

Trevor...sounds like Microsoft ActiveSync software....which synchronizes folders between your computer and an external device (like a laptop or PDA). If you no longer have or use this external device, then try going to control panel, add/remove programs, and try to uninstall Microsoft ActiveSync.

Hi Villages07,
Thanks for the advice. However, I do not wish to get rid of the Active Sync Programs as I intend to use them from time to time. I just want the programs to work properly.

Any other suggestions that might work.

Thanks

Trevor Bailay

Trevor, we have a large Computer Club here in TV. It only cost $5 per year to belong. You don't have to be a member to attend a meeting. The web site is www.thevillagescomputerclub.com. A wonderful lady named Maxine Miller puts out two newsletters each week and if you addressed a question to her should would probably be able to help you. Her email address is JMAXPJP2@aol.com. One of her newsletters is strictly computer info. The other newletter is Non-computer items (e.g. for sale, giveaways, items of interest, etc.)
