Hmmm, who can tell me what the problem is - computer or monitor?
I have a Dell computer that I brought down to TV with me, but due to space limitations I had to leave the huge monitor behind. So, I bought a used Dell monitor at the local thrift store, and when plugged into just the electrical outlet, a small blue box appears saying something like " no input, cable disconnected ", it remains for about 30 seconds, and then goes into sleep mode with the screen going black and the little green on-light turning yellow. HOWEVER, when I do plug it in to my tower, the monitor never comes on at all, just remains in sleep mode, with no message ever appearing on the screen.
So, my questions: Is the monitor faulty? I thought maybe the cable, but it cannot be exchanged as its permanently attached. Or, did my tower get damaged in transit? Thanks so much for any advice! |

Krash,
After you meet and say hello to your neighbors ask if they will help you in a test. Try your monitor on their computer; try their monitor on your computer. This should help you narrow it down to computer or monitor.

Could be as simple as a preference setting. :dontknow: Yes, I agree with 07. Best to test it on another computer if you can. Doesn't Dell offer Tech Support?

Re: Hmmm, who can tell me what the problem is - computer or monitor?
Thank you all for your fast and helpful suggestions!
I had been following the original Dell directions for setup, and the intruction manual had specifically pointed to an upper slot for the monitor cord. I noticed that there was a similar shaped slot at the bottom of the tower, and inserted the cord there, and **wahlaaaahhh**, the monitor is working. Thanks again! |

I tried to become a"dazzler" yesterday and managed to wipe out my entire e-mail and replaced it with some little man that would come out on my screen and tell me I had mail but I had no idea where to find it!!! Engr guy was up half the night trying to get rid of this little man and restore my e-mail account! I thought my life was over last night! LOL In the future, I think I will just remain dazzled by all of you lovely dazzlers Ok? >
